2pac LAYERING his vocals

Yea, inspired by the irrelevant "Made Niggaz" thread. Pac did double or triple his vocals for a bunch of his song. One most notable is Military Mindz. Back when Better Dayz came out, I listened to Mititary Mindz a lot, but then that 2pac Phenomenom mixtape came out and the song I recall being called Revolution had the same verse from Military Mindz. A line in the song was noticably different. On the album version, Pac would say

My live mind got me surviving 5 shots
My 45 got me fortified with live shots

But on the mixtape, I could see the when he says "shots", he had just switched the words during the alternate recording. It goes,

My live mind got me surviving 5 rounds
My 45 got me fortified with live rounds

Its just a thought I wanna put out there.

Also Pac's layering with songs like Only Fear Of Death and Souljahz Revenge was the first of its kind right? Mixing his normal voice with his low pitched voice? I wish he would've done more layers like that in his deathrow dayz. The only time I think he did use his low pitched voice was in When We Ride and Blasphemy, but even then, he wasn't rappin with it.

Yeah Pac did layer his vocals. There's probably three takes plus adlibs on most later songs. Its to give him a wider sound. Plus adlibs and extra doubles on specific stand out words.

on the OG to Military Minds you can clearly hear him say both shots and rounds in that line. there are many of his songs that are like this

I know sometimes, Pac doesn't even do doubles, cuz his voice is already pumped and raw

really? cuz on the top layer he is saying rounds pretty clearly on the OG. the "shots" are from his ad lib track, which is why he shouts them out.

here's the track RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

listen in at 1:03, it is pretty clear he is saying rounds, and shots is coming from the back layering.
I know wat ya sayin'. I just think the ablibs part "SHOTS" is at a higher volume. I haven't heard the OG in a while but, but the released version, I remember thinkin "shots" was the only lyric there

Layering his vocals put greater emphasis on the performance, doing things thrice. Pac put emphasis on single words with multiple meaning.

"all these niggaz wanna be me, MULTI millionaire"

I wonder if Pac had a certain influence that inspired him to layer his vocals. It is like providing your own background rapping.
