"And the Oscar goes to...Tupac Shakur for Training Day!"

Part of Tupac’s legacy was that through rhymes, interviews and movies, he was able to exist more as a human than any other rapper before or since. In SOHH Left’s continued tribute to the life he led—on this, the day that he passed, 11 years ago today—we take a look at the films that made ‘Pac a suitor of Janet Jackson, a foe of Omar Epps and a partner of James Belushi.

Juice: In his first starring role, ‘Pac showed that he could act like the baddest motherf**ker on the planet, so much so that people often confused Shakur with Roland Bishop, the character he played.

Poetic Justice: A by-the-book romance, this one was by the books (unlike co-star Janet Jackson’s alleged request that ‘Pac took an AIDS test before filming a love scene). However, Shakur’s charms often superceded the script, which often moved into the land of fake *ss cheese.

Above the Rim: Known more for Warren G and Nate Dogg’s “Regulate” hit single, Above the Rim is fully underrated in the realm of basketball flicks. Shakur returns to his bad dude role and by this time had mastered the eerie look that paralyzed his on-screen partners.

The other movies, however, are hardly worth talking about. Even though Mickey Rourke is a bad*ss, I don’t know anyone who’s actually seen Bullet and Gang Related is just a buddy-cop movie gone wrong (or weekend afternoons on TBS).

But here are the questions: What roles would Tupac have landed had his acting career been able to continue? Will Smith’s role in Men In Black? Denzel Washington’s role in Training Day? Terrence Howard in Hustle & Flow?

And would he have snagged an Oscar?

Now that I think of it, imagine Pac playing the role Denzel did in Training Day. That would've been his best role there. Or even in BabyBoy (which he was intended for), The Matrix ( 2pac=Neo?), Halloween, Freedom Writers, a Friday movie with Ice Cube, Coach Carter?, i don't know, just some movies that came to mind...but Pac would've been one of my favorite actors along with Laurence Fishburne, Samuel Jackson and Denzel
