Application Tests

WOW.

Applying for all jobs are a headache now. I hate that they ask you the same questions in a variety of different ways, in this new test thing they got now.

I.E: Do you get offended easily?

Do people that move slow irritate you?

If you worked with a slow person for a lengthy amount of time, would you get offended or irritated?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you responsible?

Are you often late?

Have you ever thought of seriously quitting high school?

(These are all off the top of my head).

------------------------------------------

I can understand that it helps eliminate longer hiring processes, but it just adds to the agony of un-employed workers.

Whatever happened to first impression?

I can't go into a place with just information, now the employer already has a first impression b/c of that stupid personality test.

Why can't they just judge and see if we are good workers or not?

I believe it discriminates some workers. Lets say you have someone with a pretty good people person personality, but the dude is LAZY. As opposed to the person who keeps to himself but gets shit done and when approached by customers, he can at least be adequate enough to answer the question in a decent or good manner.

I think this test shit is bullshit. I want to be able to impress the old fashion way.

What about you guys? Do you guys think this test thing is Bullshit or needed?

If you're saying that you want to prove your value by doing actual work when you say "the old fashioned way" then I'll say - you can't go apply to a college and tell them "I'll get good grades so accept me" - one thing you need to do is to take a test and prove yourself.

I'm going to take Retail as an example - I feel that some retail workers I encounter lack any sort of sincerity and service mentality. For an employer, a worker being able to stock the shelves isn't good enough if they want to attract customers. A healthy smile and a friendly chat goes a long ways type thing. So a personality test could be valuable to certain employers.

On the other hand, maybe the tests I've taken aren't the same as what you took - but I always thought they were nothing more than common sense evaluation. You don't have to be a friendly person in private as long as you're willing to be friendly at work, because as a consumer I would consider that service mentality to be a part of your job.

It's bullshit because we have to take them. So, the problem is in the social structure! Rise up for the revolution!!!!
