the latest leaks put pac's material into a new perspective to me.
there's a lot of dope tracks, but i can see why most of them weren't released. there's a couple of really good ones like "hell razor", "ghetto gospel" and "life as a g", but he missed the window where releasing those tracks was feasible. originals to songs like "black cotton" and "n.i.g.g.a." were interesting to hear, but i can tell why they were not put out. doesn't sound like hit songs at all.
the new leaks are cool though. most groupies are like "OMG LAWL FUCKING HOT SHIT", but those of us that aren't fucking into Pac like that can prolly appreciate this in a different manner. some of these songs are the workprints that pac turned into hits. i used to make beats and i used to make a lot. only every 5th to 10th beat were dope to me. similarly, every artist might record a lot of material, but any artist with artistic integrity can distinguish hit songs from bad ones. "black cotton" in it's original format is a really shitty song. the fact that pac could tell the good songs from the bad, and the fact that he put out shit like "temptations" and "me against the world" instead of shit like "black cotton" and "n.i.g.g.a." is a testiment to pac's artistic vision. he was an artist, but in the flip of the same coin, he was able to be realistic about his own work. highly commendable imo.
