'God Bless The Dead'

#1
Everyone knows the intro to this song,

"rest in peace to my motherfucker Biggie Smalls"

Was just wondering why theres never been a bigger deal made about this track, you never read about it like you do lyrics in some of his other songs about forseeing his death and events to his/Biggies death, does anyone know more about the story behind the song? or why he wrote it?

Yet more people who don't recognize the ambiguity in Tupac's lyrics!

It just so happens that Tupac knew 2 people by the name of Biggie Smalls, who is anyone to tell you which of them he meant. Maybe it could be a double entendre.

Or ... maybe Suge had a Budgie he called Biggie Smalls, that just so happen to die from bird-flu and Tupac dedicated a song to it.

stretch's verse is clearly not about the notorious big (as is pac's). it would seem relevant to listen to the lyrics rather than a couple words.

That's not my point.

Birds can be suceptible to flu anywhere/anytime. I seen my homies budgie doing Bill & Huey impressions once, that was about '96.

why in the Hell would pac shout notorious big out by sayin 'Rest In Peace To My Motherfuckin Biggie Smalls'. And nobody notice. And have the song be a tribute, with stretch. Ain't much ambiguity involved

i think he was just trying to joke around, considering I doubt Stretch ever met Suge Knight in his entire life anyways, although I suppose its possible (at the source awards perhaps)

Maybe stretch met suge knight somehwere in the process of the above the rim soundtrack. He was in the video for liquor, the song pain, and produced Pain. He very well could have met him.

your right, i forgot aobut the Above the Rim soundtrack, since that was a Death Row release I'm sure Stretch would've had to sign a contract with somebody from the label for that to be put out
