I found this book when i was searching for info on Papa G for the other thread. This book is called How to Survive Puberty At 25 and was written by Nina Bhadreshwar. This woman was a part of the Death Row staff during the 90's.

The parts that struck me the most were on page 296 where she was talking about blatant disrespect of 2Pac, while he was in prison, by Suge Knight. she says:

Everyone heard him say this. I dont know how people could have worked up there when Tupac later joined Death Row knowing Suge had been so blatant with his malicious disrespect of him. I left the room feeling sick........

Now page 295 is missing from the book preview on google so im not sure what Suge had said but im guessing that this disrespect she talks about was Suge saying that 2Pac got raped in jail because she talks about a malicious rumour about 2Pac in the next paragraph. not 100% sure though.

She goes onto say on the same page:

After that, word in the office was that Tupac had signed to Death Row. I couldnt feel good about this somehow. I met his mother Afeni, when she came up to meet with Papa G. I was glad that Tupac was getting out but i wasnt glad he was coming to Death Row after what Suge had said. I knew his motives were not good. Suge's personaility started to change around the summer of 1995. I dont know what or why. I just know he changed-for the worse. He started playing a different game. Or rather it was the same game with different rules. Despite what he said about his aim being to make Death Row the biggest, most successful record label, he was more interested in making money than actually developing artists and a solid infrastructure and network within the industry. The magazine was not the only thing put on hold........

makes you wonder doesnt it. was Suge ever really a friend of 2Pac or was he just using him to make money.

Not only 2pac. From the stories we've been getting about Suge, all the bits and pieces put together, I guess he was always about getting money for himself. Suge is broke as f!@k right now as he has no artists to swindle.

The whole thing of 2pac going to DR was really cool to hear at the time. However, even some articles say 2pac knew he was selling his soul to the devil but, he opted to sign that contract. I have the Tupac Shakur: Legacy book and, that contract he signed is nothing short of pathetic. It's the kind of contract that someone signs when they are desperate, not because they are thinking straight. That contract is an embarrassment to the legacy of probably the greatest hip hop act this planet has ever seen.

There was one really long article about the time when 2pac was trying to leave DR and realized his accounts were messed up. He asks for his cash and a car or jewelery is sent to him. 2pac tried to sue DR through David Kenner, it was a conflict of interest because Kenner represents DR. So 2pac fired Kenner and that stirred up a lot of shit. There was some really messed up stuff happening at Death Row as glamorous and notorious that label was.

i reckon Suge was behind his murder. really makes sense imo.

I don't know how credible that is (what Suge said) because, let's not forget that 'Pac had worked with Death Row before he went to jail (Pain and Pour Out A Little Liquor being on the Above The Rim soundtrack in '94) and that Suge had been trying to get him on the label before that.

I mean yeah, he could have still said it, but you don't know in what context it was said. He could have simply been repeating that rumor, as people were saying it at the time. I believe Wendy Williams had been spreading that rumor and of course Chino XL had that line about "getting fucked like Tupac in jail".

I mean it's the kind of rumor that gets said about a lot of people who go to jail, you know.

I agree that there was some very fucked up shit happening at Death Row, the whole contract and stuff with David Kenner included.

But it's also important to remember that 'Pac might not have got out of jail otherwise - nobody else was willing to put up the bail and Interscope were on the verge of dropping him from the label - this sounds hard to believe but remember this was at the same time that Interscope were getting a LOT of pressure from parental groups, religious groups, activists, people like Reverend Calvin Butts, over hardcore hip-hop. I believe these circumstances led Time Warner to sell their shares in Interscope.

Even if they didn't drop him, I think at this time Interscope didn't need the negative publicity they would get from putting up the bail money, and were unwilling to do it.

Some might say that maybe 'Pac should have done his full sentence and avoided Death Row and perhaps he'd still be alive. But we can't say how any more time in jail would have affected 'Pac. It could have completely broken him. The time he did spend in jail significantly altered his personality - that's not hard to see. The Tupac that came out of jail was clearly not the same person that went in. He had become bitter, angry, paranoid, distrustful, resentful, reckless.

Sure -those emotions, those feelings led to some of the greatest hip-hop music ever made. But at what cost?

I agree with Prince about having to know the context in which it was said although this Nina lady seemed to take it very seriously. She calls it 'malicious and blatent' after all.

The thing with Suge is I believe hes the kind of guy who doesn't respect anyone or anything whether your considered his friend or not, his allegiance at the time was to money, he would have been liable to dsrespect his own mother.
If it wasn't for the fact that he was driving the car i'd 100% believe Suge Knight was responsible for his murder

I was thinking about Suge's possible involvement in Tupac's murder the other day.... If he wasnt in the car it would be very believable.....

But what I think is odd is the question of "What was actually said to Pac that he rushed Orlando"??

I have not watched the casino surveillance in a long time but it seemed that the guy that spoke into Pac's ear didnt speak long enough to say "Hey there's the guy who took so and so's chain at the mall" Then Pac would have to have said "Where" and then been pointed to Orlando.....

Does that make any sense?? Like I said its been a while so maybe that conversation was longer than what I remembered seeing but maybe Im just remembering re-enactments....

But it seemed to me as if things were already set in motion for him to go after Orlando.... Maybe Suge was setting something up to happen down the road when the time was right for Suge and things unfolded faster than he had wanted and he ended up in the crossfire...

Just a random thought that should probably be under a different thread ......

what probably happened was Orlando had been spotted by one of Death Rows goons earlier in the night and they spoke about it, then they went in the lobby and someone just turned to 2pac and said "thats him"

As for Suge, he has no loyalty to Tupac, imagnine how Tupac would react if he seen how many times Suge has been on Wendy Williams WBLS show since 96

there was a article i read from shooting time period that claimed Pac was in a "shouting match" ringside i dont know if that was misconstrewed from orlando fight or if it was seperate

also would Suge & Pac been back to jail for the fight if there was no shooting




back to topic ive never fully believed the 'selling my soul' shit, also at least Pac claimed he owed a lot of $ to death row the same time they owed him.
suges always involved in some peoples conspiracys just like the coincidence both suge & puffy make it out alive

supposedly firing kenner happened the week of the shooting but i dont know ramifications i remember kadafi's mom being the one to send the letter?
