I finally listened to some clips of this album on Amazon, after promising myself for the last two months to not buy or download or even listen to a single song off this travesty.
And yep, all the songs suck except 3 of the 4 "bonus" remixes.
Po Nigga Blues--Upbeat song, but has the sweet vibe in it that fits perfectly with 2Pac's serious subject matter. And Isley's crooning a la "Better Dayz" doesn't hurt either.
Hennessy--Now THIS is hot. I'm especially lovin' the snare drum sample and the guitar-sounding licks, whatever the hell they are supposed to be.
Crooked Nigga Too--2Pac meets underground hip-hop/soul? Not bad...although the chorus suggests a very underground type of vibe, the beat still has the sneakiness in it that you know will always epitomize a 2Pac song.
Loyal To The Game--Nah, doesn't work for me. Plus, with the exception of "Late Night" and "Heartz Of Men" I didn't like ANY of Quik's work with anyone. He fucked up Talib Kweli's solo debut with that one song, and his stuff for the Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit camp sounds all alike IMO.
But yeah, I heard the clips, and I still think the album sucks now that I've finally heard some of it. As long as Eminem stays the fuck away from the next release, I'm good.
This will go down as the only 2Pac album full of unreleased lyrics that I did not buy.
