Nail Biting

No. Just cut them when they are long.

It's actually nasty at the thought of it. I'm not saying MY nails have scum and dirt, but biting them would just put that into your mouth..
I can think of a few things that are very common and way nastier if the definition of nasty is dirt and bacteria:
- Showering without frequently cleaning out the shower head
- Eating a girl out (unless she just showered, WITH a clean shower head :p)
- Leaving food on the counter and eating it the next day
- Licking your finger when turning a paper
- Coughing / other people coughing near you

It's obviously only since I bite my nails that I felt the need to go in defensive stance, but the nail thing really strikes me as retarded. Then again, my nails are generally always short due to biting, so there's nowhere for the "dirt" to get stuck, and maybe you can't relate due to being used to having long nails :p

I do hate that I do it though, cause it looks bad, both your fingers and you while you're doing it. It's a subconscious compulsion that I don't really always control. I bet the hair under my arms is nastier after a workout session than my fingernails can ever be. And obviously I'd love to lick the hair under my arms after a workout session without even flinching.

I bite my lip like a fiend. That's probably why I don't bite my nails.
Can you emphasize? Bite it like, put the whole lip in the mouth and biting along the "border" of the lip?

When I was a kid I used to get dry lips and I used to get dry lips and the "hard" skin flaps that would form got annoying so I'd bite them off. Afterwards my lips were all smooth, and nice to kiss, I bet.

Anyway, the former is kinda hot. The latter is kinda nasty like biting fingernails. That's why I ask.

I run my tongue along the inside of my mouth when it's closed....looking for imperfections I guess. And bite it off. It's not sexy at all. Especially if I start biting the inside of my cheek. I'll bite my tastebuds off too :/

yea it makes my eyes water but it's oddly satisfying. That'll teach my tastebuds to be swollen :push:

i cant help but bit my tongue all the time. it gets to a state where it starts bleeding and then the muscle tissue repairs itself and after a few days it chew the new tissue of and start all over again. its like a cyclic process. chew, repair, remove, chew.

i happen to notice this is probably when im anxious, pre-occupied and perhaps bored.

i read not too long ago (during my first and only ever research about it) that it is possibly innate/genetic and is sub-conscious so its nothing we can entirely inhibit or stop ourselves from doing but in fact just find alternatives as solutions. i.e. chew chewing gum.

may be OCD of some sort because you have to get that 'perfect' spot and its like a challenge of some kind in order to accomplish that.

i bite off the dead skin from anywhere inside the mouth and then get rid of it (i.e. when you bite your lip accidentally, the skin comes off, or when the inside of the cheek is worn away).

anyone else bite their tongue?
