I went to the doctors yesterday (Tues) because of chest pains. They hooked me up to an EKG and the doctor said there wasn't anything he was too concerned about, although my heart did speed up a bit at times and he wanted to send the results to a cardiologist.
I need to go to the hospital tomorrow morning and get blood work done. The doctor will also be in contact with me about getting a device which is basically an EKG that you can walk around with and they can monitor 24/7. He doesn't think I have anything like a clogged artery and that the problem is probably muscular since it hurts more when he applies pressure to my chest. He said the heart sits in a sac and it's possible for that sac to become inflamed and your chest muscles are also able to become arthritic. He also mentioned he might want a stress test and a chest x-ray administered.
At this point, until he knows more about what's going on, he asked me to abstain from anything that might make my heart beat faster: like caffeine, certain ingredients that might be present in my allergy medication, alcohol, cigs, etc so I'm going to take his advice and hopefully I'll know more when the blood work results come in. I have a follow up doctors appointment on 11-11. I also spoke with my insurance company. I have a $1,000.00 deductible and I'm obligated to pay 20% afterwards and I can already imagine with all of these tests that the costs are gonna be considerable.
This really really sucks
