No Booze for Awhile

I went to the doctors yesterday (Tues) because of chest pains. They hooked me up to an EKG and the doctor said there wasn't anything he was too concerned about, although my heart did speed up a bit at times and he wanted to send the results to a cardiologist.

I need to go to the hospital tomorrow morning and get blood work done. The doctor will also be in contact with me about getting a device which is basically an EKG that you can walk around with and they can monitor 24/7. He doesn't think I have anything like a clogged artery and that the problem is probably muscular since it hurts more when he applies pressure to my chest. He said the heart sits in a sac and it's possible for that sac to become inflamed and your chest muscles are also able to become arthritic. He also mentioned he might want a stress test and a chest x-ray administered.

At this point, until he knows more about what's going on, he asked me to abstain from anything that might make my heart beat faster: like caffeine, certain ingredients that might be present in my allergy medication, alcohol, cigs, etc so I'm going to take his advice and hopefully I'll know more when the blood work results come in. I have a follow up doctors appointment on 11-11. I also spoke with my insurance company. I have a $1,000.00 deductible and I'm obligated to pay 20% afterwards and I can already imagine with all of these tests that the costs are gonna be considerable.

This really really sucks

Maybe you should use this opportunity to see if you can maintain a enjoyable social life without the alcohol & cigarettes (if you smoke).

From all the stories I read on here, I always thought you had a drinking problem. Maybe not major...or at least yet, but definitely some sort of drinking problem.

Take it as a blessing..its good for you.

Dude do whatever it takes to take care of your health, especially your heart and chest. A friend of mine took a massive heart attack a couple months ago and hes gone, just like that, so sudden. 35 years old. Its really made me start to change my ways and look after myself more.

But on a lighter note, I had one of those 24 hour monitors a few years ago to monitor my blood pressure, and the doc showed me the results and at about 5 oclock my blood pressure went through the roof because I was having an argument with my sister lol. So I put a guilt trip on her after that and told her she was the cause of all my stresses!

damn, dog, that shit sucks.

*sips corona* lol j/k

just take care of yourself.

You don't HAVE to drink do you? Like, your body doesn't need it? If it's not that bad, then that's good.

Just keep up with health shit, talk to bobby, or that girl with that nice 6pack.

I still can't get over your thread title. Maybe you did it because it's a great hook knowing you're the thread started but damn...NO BOOZE should be the least of your worries.

You're much too young to be an alcoholic, you'll be alright. Drinking is for elderly single dudes and teenagers who think it makes them cool to bang roofied chicks.
I'm sure you can get your ass kicked by bitches sober, too. :) (jk, jk)

The heart thing really sucks, though. Your heart, I hear, is an important part of your anatomy. Might wanna keep that little red bitch intact.

lol speak for yourself.

For someone to quit drinking/doing drugs they literally have to change their entire social circle, which ain't easy.
I did it keeping my same friends, going to bars and all. It's really not hard, unless you're one of those people who depend on the shit. Then you just have other problems

Thats pretty amazing shit then man. I know for me its not like that at all. I don't know I'd say I'm dependant on the shit but i know if i'm with homeboys I'm good until its around. Like if they wanna sniff I'm good until they start doin lines infront of me, then I usually break down. So if they go to pick it up I end up going home or hanging out with other people. Usually going home since it doesn't go down till like 3 or 4 am. Same with drinking I'm good until everyone around me is doin it.

If I'm hanging out with my university buddies I don't ever feel the urge to do drugs since none of them are into that kinda thing.
