Remember that not everyone who believes in god believes in the bible. This is a common mistake people make unknowingly, as if the bible speaks for all believers. I dont believe certain aspects of the bible but believe in god (im not even christian).

Ok ill switch it around a bit - if there is a god and we should all bow down to his greatness , then why cant his greatness stop famine , tsunamis , earthquakes , disease , murder , poverty etc , i could go on and on ..... i mean he created this world , universe , surely he could put his cup of tea down and help us out a bit , maybe he is on holiday or something . stopping any one one of what i mentioned above would only be a token geasture to what he supposedly achieved in creating all that is around us . im sorry i dont belive in this mythical bearded figure , thats my opinion and until he gets of his arse and proves us " non - believers " wrong im afraid that is how my opinion will stay .

Surely there are more non-believers now than say 2005 years ago. So why not send someone to us again. Or show "himself" to us.

I believe in a spiritual force, like Karma, which you could call God. But I don't believe God resembles Humans. Or that he made us in his Image.

The Bible does have a lot of historical points in it which have been proven right by Archaeology, so it isn't Bullshit. But I believe it overstresses points, and spices stories up. It's there to scare you into behaving it's way.
And if Christianity is such a good thing, and are decent people, then are homosexual's frowned upon by the religion? Surely everyone deserves compassion from God, especially if it's 2 consenting adults and no-one gets hurt.

Yeah, a lot of people believe that, at the very least, Yeshua & Mary had a sexual relationship. Da Vinci's famous painting does appear to depict a female to Yeshua's right hand side (a priveleged position) but many argue this was John - a feminine looking disciple. It must also be taken into consideration that Da Vinci had a penchant for painitng 'handsome' men who were more than a tad feminine. With the acclaim garnered by The Da Vinci Code, this issue has recently been spoke about in larger circles than usual.
There are others who beleive that Mary Magdalene, in fact, was the mother of Yeshua's children.
Well, at the time that the modern Bible was compiled by the 'elite of the elite', sexism & censorship was rife & anything they didn't like got twisted or thrown out completely.

i hope you guys realize that these inconsistencies are perfectly explanable for several reasons

the bible was originally written in hebrew, aramic and ancient greek

in some of those languages, there is no word for grandson, great-grand son, etc. they use the word son to mean all of them

the other reason is because of an old tradition. if your brother died before he knocked up his wife, then you would knock up the bitch for him to carry on his name. biologically the kid was the brother's, but officially the kid was the dead guy's. thats what happened with jacob and heli
