Although the creation of strictly kicking a ball - no tactics, no fomration - belongs to the English.

Our national team is a by-product of social ills really.

People seem to think tehy can take the piss, but Scots never overrate themselves & thus, can never really be offended by what you say.

Beckham is but a good technical player with a good right foot.

Sure, when he worked his arse off for England he became a top player, but take his crossing ability away from him & you've got an average paced, average working, average strengthed, probably a bit better than average stamina, midfielder who can't defend.

I suppse he could still pass the ball but....

Yeah he's effective but overrated nonetheless & becoming less effective by the day as he gets older.

Besides, to elaborate.

The English created football BUT, in the English version, a dude would get the ball, dribble with it for as long as he could before he was tackled or had the chance to make a shot on goal. Every player corresponded to this style.

However, north of the border, Scottish football had developed a style of play where the ball was passed around the pitch in order to keep possession & get the best chance of scoring. This is modern football.

When the English saw how much more effective & enjoyable the Scottish style of play was, they subscribed to it too. The rest of the world followed suit when football hit their shores.

Don't some say the Chinese invented Football? i remember last year when the President of world governing body FIFA had said that it was the Chinese who invented game not the English

It is widely accepted that the English created football.

The Chinese themseles don't even lay claim to it as far as I know.

And UEFA & FIFA do have problems with England & hold grudges against them. (And I am Scottish, so the bias would not be in the Saxon favour)
