Who is going to see it?

I kind of want to get in on the whole boycott because I HAAAAATED what they have done with The Last Jedi and these new films. But at the same time I really want to see it on the big screen. #torn

scared to say this but am i the only one that feels that the star wars franchise is so overrated?
Totally agree. There's not much of a story there worth thinking about or characters we should care so much about. They're both cardboard. It was groundbreaking use of special effects in a sci-fi film when the original came out and that's it. The first 3 were great action movies. The rest so-so. The films were fun despite the fact that Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were bland actors whose careers went nowhere outside the franchise. Harrison Ford pretty much carried those movies, which is why many of his movies are good. There's nothing special about the franchise that's going to automatically rub off on each one that comes out, yet that's how these fanboys act. "I gotta wait on line at 2 in the morning to see the new one!" Either a good movie is made within or outside the franchise, or it's not. I no more need to see the latest one than I need to see the latest anything, unless it gets good reviews and word-of-mouth. Who cares if Luke dies? Nobody really dies if the filmmakers what them back. It's like in comic books. Remember The Death of Superman? The Death of Captain America? Guess what, they're alive again. So will Solo if Ford agrees to make another one. Hopefully not Luke.

I was forced to watch a couple of movies by my friends after they found out I hadn't before. It felt like such a waste of time. I thought the plot sucked, while the characters and the universe weren't interesting. On top of that, they didn't even try to make it realistic. It's like a cheesy action movie in space. It was one of the reasons I could never get into sci-fi, until I discovered Mass Effect and realized some sci-fi plots can be amazing.
Then saying that out loud always felt like I'm committing the greatest sin. A bunch of people always seem to be talking about the newest Start Wars movies and then there's me, apparently committing blasphemy.

Yet nobody could tell me why they even like the series, just "because it's Star Wars!". For a lot of older folk that could be nostalgia - getting a new episode of a movie that really was a big thing to them back in the days, and I can totally respect that, as I have such series too. I just don't know why so many other people jump on the bandwagon without the movie really doing anything for them on its own, yet everyone has to see it.

man, i forced myself to watch it too because my friend kept bragging how deep the plot is lol (boy was i deceived). i'll never get that time back. i love sci fi whether it is movies or games but i just couldn't connect with star wars. with all the hype surrounding it and i even heard it as a kid, i felt so disappointed after watching them a few years ago. i did like star wars force unleashed the game though.

Haven’t seen Solo yet. Apparently it got good reviews.

I liked the old Star Wars movies better. The new ones aren’t bad, they just don’t feel as good though. And these @in between” movies are all about the $.

So I went to see it expecting the worst and I think it’s actually my favorite of the Disney Star Wars films. Go figure. It just felt like classic Star Wars. Sad that it’s not doing well because everyone hated TLJ.

Solo is OK. Worth seeing for Gambino alone; he is so swaggy as Lando.

I was disappointed by TLJ initially but I've grown to love it. It's my favorite outside the originals.
