Still I Rise Vs. Pac's Life; the end of an era

All these LTTG/PL comparisons are ridicules, really.

In my opinion Still I Rise is the best post-humus 2Pac release (not counting Makaveli) followed very close by R U Still Down. But for the sake of single disc releases, this really is the only comparison that should be made.

Loyal To The Game sucked, hands down, it was awful. Comparing Pac's Life to it and then somehow coming to the conclusion that Pac's Life is good because it is better than LTTG is retarded.

If you want to see how a Tupac album could, should and has been handled, pop Still I Rise into your CD player. We need to set a bar, a standard of rating so to speak, and in my opinion, Still I Rise is the minimum a Pac album should be. We know it is possible, it has been done, the quality of the vocals used (read: wasted) on LTTG and Pac's Life is just as good as those used on SIR; there is no realistic excuse as to why these albums shouldnt be as good and respectful as SIR.

I miss Tupac so fucking much, but Ive come to the disappointing realization that his time is well and truly over, it is time to stop. The music is an embarrassment to what it was in the 90's, even after he passed, as are the fan attitudes and the community as a whole.

It's over.

So sad yet so true

It just isnt the same anymore... When i used to get a Pac album i used to get it and listen to it thru the whole night and for the next week or two straight.. I havent done that since Better Days which was an ok album.. But yea Pacs magic just isnt there on his released music..

What can i say.. I don't even have energy to compare those two.. It's true that Still i rise fucked few good Pac's songs but i can't somehow compare it to Pac's life which in my opinion has maximum 2 good songs. That's all i can say now. Also LTTG had Uppercut, crooked n***a too or dont u trust me. Songs that i still like to listen to. Pac's life has Dumpin and Soon as i get home. Also there are no unheards

Still not a very fitting comparison i think, cuz still i rise was a 2pac & Outlawz collabo album.

Pac's life is close to being the album with the least outlawz on it (the full group for sure).

also, still i rise was an eary album, the rap game was different 6 years ago, amaru still had a huge amount of material to choose from. this time around they were much more limited.

i agree that Loyal to the game was terrible, and that just cuz this one is better, doesn't automatically make it good, but i think the similarities between LTTG and pacs life are bigger than those between Still i rise and pacs life. its a more logical comparison

The fact that it was a Pac/Outlawz album and Pac still had more verses on there than he does on Pac's Life says a lot! The fact that a Tupac and Outlawz album is better than an album with Tupac and some of the industries current top talent says even more considering that the Outlawz suck compared to Ludacris, TI or Snoop.

So in my opinion, based on featured artists, on paper Pac's Life should be better -- but it is so obviously not.

Maybe not.

You gotta remember, we're 2pac fans, most of us became a fan because of the music he released when he was alive, or music released just after his death. That's the kind of music we're used to and which we like. Outlawz also make/made that style of music, they were on his tracks back when we became fans. But "some of the industries current top talent" has gone a different direction with hip-hop. So its no surprise that we prefer 2pac & Outlawz over 2pac & Lil Scrappy or 2pac & Nipsey Hussle and Young Dre. Its different.

Thats why i agree with the guy that posted that Soon as i get home sounds outta place on this album, that track still has the "old" feel to is, whereas all the other tracks have a new feel to it, Dumpin and Sleep a little less, but they still don't sound anything like the old 2pac sound.

This product just seems so watered down to me.. More then any other release next to LTTG probaly due to three tracks remixed twice on a 13 track lp... And unfortunately 2 of those mixes "Play Ya Cards Right male" and "Pacs Life w/Snoop" are total wastes of space which make this album extremely short. I know Amaru has more DATS they could have used for this album to at least give us more then 10 songs.

Today would of been a total waste music wise if it wasnt for Fat Joe's album leaking as well... LOL... That speaks volumes.

Personally I feel like, I have Soon As I Get Home CDQ.... I never want to hear this album again.

Oh there is no doubt that SIR is one of the best albums. Most of the production is original, it sounds good, even the remixes on the album sound good. I'm already waiting for the next Pac album lol..who knows tho..amaru might just surprise us...

At this stage I think the only way Amaru could suprise us is if they put Black Haze on there pretending to be Pac, and that wouldnt be good.

I expect everything to gradually go down hill until it hits the wall.

:thumb:

so now we have to pray for minimal promotion like it was with good albums like BD for example :thumb: but knowing amaru it'll be another way around. Hearing Pac's life all the time in the radio or watching some shitty videos would kill me.
It's the first time i hope for no promotion because i don't like to think bout Pac and then imagine Pac's life or LTTG.. I just wanna piture Pac like he recorded All eyez on me or so..

i think still i rise was a good album but not my favorite posthumous... they ruined a lot of GREAT songs (secrets of war, tattoo tearz, u can b touched) but also improved a couple (black jesus, still i rise, hell 4 a hustler) and then kept the others even and gave us some unheards... i have to agree with you on the "i got Soon As I gEt home and never listening again" line but i would have to add 'dumpin' and that's it... i also like hearing pac in CDQ on some of the tracks but i just keep reminding myself that its a tribute album :phew:

Like u said urself, LTTG ain't even worth comparing to this album. So they already hit the wall, can't get worse than that, this is the first step to revival after the recession

praise positivity :thumb:

anyway, not like we didnt have any of these songs in original form, so for the unhappy people, consider the good tracks a nice addition to your collection, and be happy you got the originals of the bad tracks.
