Who Shot Ya?

i dunno, but everytime i listenin 2 this biggie song, somethin comin clear and clearer for me that it could be a diss to 2pac

""I feel for you, like chaka khan I’m the don
Pussy when I want rolex on the arm
You’ll die slow but calm
Recognize my face, so there won’t be no mistake""

and we all know that pac gave him his first rolex n sum,
But again biggie mentioned the word BEEF in this song
"" It’s on nigga, fuck all that bickering beef""
i dunn see a reason that biggie could take about a beef thang, cuz back ther 95 he hadnt no beef wit no body unless pac who was in da jail....whats ur opinion?

This is like people saying DMX's "Get At Me Dog" verse isn't a dis' to Pac, but when he was freestyling that shit on the radio he said Pac's name instead of "K (Solo)".

While I've always wanted to think that Who Shot Ya could be slightly dissing Pac, doesn't the chronology of events make that impossible? It was recorded for Ready to Die in 1994 but got cut from the album and made it's way onto the Big Poppa B-Side. I'm fairly certain that would make it impossible to have even been written prior to Tupac's shooting. I may be wrong, though, if Biggie recorded it in like December 94, but I think thats unlikely.

Also, doesn't the statement "fuck all that bickering beef" make it clear that the song is just fiction? Considering that there was no "beef" until Pac got out of jail, its unlikely that the "beef" BIG is referencing has anything to do with real life.

Even though Who Shot Ya is very appicable to the Pac-BIG beef, I think it is just a case of a rapper writing about fictitious events, fictitious people, etc....except in this case, Biggie's fiction turned real. Also...how fuckin dope is Who Shot Ya? I love that shit.

it's kinda funny to me that big never even used his name on a diss track... i think big was smart about doing this cuz pac woulda ruined his career... i always thought Who Shot Ya was a diss along with the Long Kiss Goodnight song... what song does lil' kim say "who knows who shot ya, but they got ya, set u up, wet u up, next time keep ya head up"

ps. can anybody up Who Shot Ya OG (not the Born Again one) and the DMX track and freestyle where he says pac's name or any other beef tracks against where the artist uses pac's name, etc. THANKS

Ya right that biggie didnt mention pac's name on a song, but lil cease said in interview that diddy n others cut some words of long goodnight kiss, i dunno if he was talkin bout this OG 1 which got leaked or another 1 which still not leaked, if they didnt leaked yet, then maybe pac's name is ther lol

Biggie was a coward who hadnt the balls to call 2Pac out.He just dissed him subliminally and after 2Pac was dead.Doesnt get much more cowardly than that.Still,a great rapper though

I think it was an issue with the timein it was released that mayb pac took issue
Exactly. And obviously LL's I Shot Ya was about timing too.

Long Kiss Goodnight originally had intro ad libs that dissed Pac too. And the track was unquestionably made after Pac's death because he refers to his car accident with Lil Cease. So Biggie started spouting off only after Pac died (like Pac had said in interviews, Biggie was quieter than a "churchmouse"). That's pretty pathetic.

Agreed. Even though he wasn't really beefing with Nas, he didn't call Nas out by name either when he dissed him on Kick in the Door.

True, but the retail verson contains subliminal disses as well.
"Laugh now, cry later, I rhyme greater" has been speculated to be referring to Pac's "Laugh now, cry later" tattoo on his back.
"Slugs missed ya, I ain't mad at cha" is almost certainly referring to Pac's song I Ain't Mad at Cha
