I like Obama. I honestly think he is progressive, that he cares, and that he wants to make a difference. But... I believe he can't do anything because of the way politics work. If it isn't in favour of those that spend the most on Lobbying, it won't get done.

He gave a big speech about always looking at both sides of the story... dont make rash judgments based on bias.... if you are a democrat, you read the republican view and dont disagree with it just because its republican..... blah blah blah

That same summer he fired Shirley Sherrod without giving her a chance to explain, all based on a doctored Breitbart video made to show her as a racist.

Fair enough the White House apologised after but it showed he doesnt even follow is own advice.

I don't think Lobbying is the only thing holding him back. But I get the feeling he is a genuine person when I have seen him speak.

He gets you all inspired and fired up, but listen to what he says, then compare it to his (controllable) actions

With exception to a few, when America has been under the control of another president, and Americans love that president, the rest of the world hates America, because we a look at the president and think "this guy is a fucking IDIOT".

Then Obama gets in office and the rest of the world think "wow this guy is a genius, about time America had some intelligent life in government" and you all hate him!

Agreed with Gotti, Obama has been the best president in living memory. No President is perfect obviously, but I think he's doing a great job. He's ending wars, took out Bin Laden, got rid of "Don't Ask Don't Tell", he's bringing more business back to being locally made in America and cutting tax breaks for people who move their companies overseas, and he is in favor of gay marriage.

Just those things alone put him leagues ahead of anyone else.

If, for some ridiculous ass-backwards reason, Mitt Romney somehow gets in, the USA is fucked. That guy is a racist elitist out-of-touch bully.

Well maybe 'caused' was a strong word.. maybe 'enabled' is better. I think one of the main people is Geithner who is a member of the old boy firm, Paulson who nominated alot of his old 'friends' like Ed Liddy from Sachs to join AIG... who received alot of money..

He didnt even say anything when Geither nominated the bank in NY (that I think he used to work at... or is now run by another Sachs douche) to 'oversee' the handout of bailout funds! Even though the bank itself was getting a few billion!

I think Obama has had the bad luck of inheriting a very bad situation. A lot of people are easy to point the finger at him, but forget that bit of information. Not sure if I'd say he's the best president in living memory, I think I'd give that up to Bill Clinton (I could care less that he got a blowy in the Oval Office), but Obama is up there for trying to restore a sense of normalcy to the country.

It's not like you can do THAT much because you're a president. Not fucking things up entirely is good enough. Lack of huge decisions.. that's what most presidents do. If you're not on the news all the time it means that you're doing good enough job or they haven't caught you doing your job poorly. That's good.
Healthcare plan was a controversial decision though because it's way too far from perfect and.. I don't live in America and I don't know how it now works in reality but from what I hear they say it used to be better. I haven't spoken to a person who would benefit from that though and most of us foreigners know that the healthcare system that he wanted simply doesn't work in most cases. Heck, there's a lot of countries trying to figure out how to abandon the public healthcare system because it turned out to be a money pit that with time comes to a place of no return and you have to sink tax money there.

However he's just a President - by definition, he's mostly the person who represents your country. It's not like he can change much. He changed stuff by becoming the US President in the first place. The fact that he's black is significant by itself too. His PR is close to perfect and he became one of the most influential polititians in the world - and that's what really matters in politics.
