I may go vegan

I'm a fan of crossfit but it's not hard to tire you out or make you sore from working out. For me the problem with crossfit is that people jump into to it with out proper training and using poor technique. You can get certified to teach crossfit in 2 days now, it's ridiculous. Like that video I posted, people at actual gyms being encouraged by actual trainers to lift way too much weight with improper form, it hurts just watching it.
Crossfit is a system, essentially, not a different form of lifting weights. I'm sure those who stress bad form are in the minority. Since like three people here have said the same thing you have, y'all must have been watching too many YouTube videos or read the same article or something. I've never heard anything like that. That's like saying Gold's Gym sucks because a trainer there was teaching people bad form at a location in buttfuck, ohio (sorry keco).

My cousin, who is an Army Ranger, is one of the initial trainers involved with CrossFit. He is very good friends with Greg Glassman, fuck out of here!

ok, btw, not being a dick, but out of curiosity, were your trainers using poor form as well?

my thing is, most of the stuff is common sense...burpees, wall balls, pull ups, push ups, bench, back squats, i forget the name of other shit, etc. it's not like it's some innovative shit in which they're inventing some crazy new form. to me it seems more like as someone mentioned, a social way of working out with someone pushing you and combining exercises so that you get more or less a full body workout each time you go. with that said, it's overpriced, and i wouldn't do it if it weren't for a group/corporate discount.

That stuff is common sense but more of the advance lifts like cleans and jerks and overhead squats have people looking like fools. Couldn't begin to tell you how many rotator cuff tears I've seen beginner crossfit people get cus they try an overhead squat with too much weight and improper technique. Not even being taught to lock out their elbows and stuff, it's bad. My trainer was my cousin and he uses impeccable form lol. I don't have a problem with the workouts being used with CrossFit more so the business behind it now. Damn near anyone can open a gym and use the name and well yeah, that's where the problems start.

Anywayssss, something I've been getting into for the past couple months is parallette training, viscious stuff, it's hard but fun

You're right, but look at the video posted above your post. What horrible form. Crossfit is just a snapped shoulder or disc waiting to happen.
You're right, but you cant base it on one video.

Of course bad form will screw you up and the folks that get overly into it will do it wrong. It totally defeats the purpose if you're doing cleans or whatever and you're just jerking your body any which way...

But if you do it right.. then it can't be beat. If you see the army doing crossfit.. or even the 'crossfit-like' portions of P90x or insanity, you will see the right form and better results

Longest post I've seen in a while and it's all about me! Looks like I've got quite a nice space occupying your brain. I detected about a million more catty comments there, only mildly masked as being some sort of constructive points. Since you love looking at me so much....

If you really wanted to make constructive points to Coonie, you would have responded to ANY of the points posted in the video that's in the first post.

Matter fact, there's the gauntlet. Stop wasting your time addressing me, a person who does not give the least bit of a fuck, and make a legitimate, accurate, response showcasing your perspective, or the opposite perspective to ANY of the points made in that video. Any of them! Which you probably didn't even watch before jumping into this thread. First post. Gary Yourofsky.

I don't owe you an explanation for artwork - that I commissioned - and didn't draw, but the point that literally everybody else got and you missed was that the cover is the projection of the listener's fantasy, who is wearing headphones in the upper left corner. She is imaging a fantasy world, not unlike a video game-esque world, where the music, and the creator of the music, is projected onto the hero/protagonist of HER fantasy. Not MY fantasy, not some sort of representation of how I see myself. I think it's fairly obvious that I achieve every goal I set out for, so if I really wanted to look like that? I would. To go even deeper - what I hoped to capture was that the experience of listening to music creates a visual state that is utterly unique to the listener. If my face was on a dragon - does that mean I want to be a dragon? If I was depicted as a robotic creature, does that mean in real life I wish to be a robot? Spare me your pseudo-therapist nonsense. Unless you are a qualified therapist, in which case, keep going!

NATURAL cholesterol, which our body produces in the liver, is the building block for testosterone, etc. Cholesterol that you CONSUME from other animals is wholly unneccessary and ends up clogging our arteries. You know this. Right?

Coonie came to his conclusion from watching the video. Not from me "fucking with anyones health" or "pretending my diet is the answer". He even posted in one of his original comments that it had nothing to do with me, presuming that my veganism is purely about animal rights. So he made the mistake of thinking that health benefits have nothing to do with my choices, before I clarified that I've always said it's equal parts health and animal rights.

Also, my testosterone levels are higher than expected, not lower. The doctors I've seen believe that's due to precocious puberty, which I hit when I was 7, brought on by extreme childhood trauma. If anything, I need to lower them, although they aren't dangerously high.

The avatar is a joke. I didn't make the badge. It's not to be taken seriously. You find them sold in vegan shops, next to ones that say "Level 5 Vegan", which is a Simpsons joke (a character says "I'm a level 5 vegan, I don't eat anything that casts a shadow").

I don't care to respond more to your flailing random and baseless accusations. You clearly know everything there is to know about me already, from a couple of pictures taken nearly a year ago and a typical patriarchal ignorant assessment about effeminacy coupled with some effeminaphobic pseudo-jabs. Congrats, you've obviously got my number, oh whatever will become of me now? *rolls eyes*

Video. Watch it. Respond to that, if you really came in here to be constructive.

Peace.

Oh, no, I know health had a big role in it as well. You told us that you quit smoking concurrently as well and you felt much better. I just remember the debates we had on here had more of a animal rights theme to it. At least to me it sounded that way. But I know it was still pretty even between ethics and health for you following veganism.

Ahem.

Famous/successful athletes who are vegan - oh look, a whole website dedicated to it! Including weight lifters and all sorts!

http://www.greatveganathletes.com

Genetics, environment, individual body types, all matter.

Now if you two (Casey, Rukus) have quite finished jerking each other off (entertaining as it is for the rest of us), imma going back to lurking these boards in peace.

DIETARY cholesterol, the cholesterol that you consume, has little to no effect on your body. You know this, right? Doctors are now recommending a keto diet for people who have high cholesterol because it lowers your cholesterol levels. Sort of the opposite of what your saying isn't it?

Whatever your choice of dietary lifestyle, READ. Read how the human body works. Read how nutrients work. Don't rely on videos on youtube or websites that promote ONE life style, because you become someone who becomes dogmatic with an ideology in a field of science that humans are still behind in. Do you know how many people recoil when I tell them I eat 6 eggs every morning because they think I'll have a heart attack? That myth has been busted for YEARS and it's still prevalent, even when I show them articles clearly proving that eating cholesterol filled foods does nothing to your cholesterol levels.

Ruk...

Were you vegetarian at some point? Or did I imagine that?
I was. I was borderline vegan, in that I don't do dairy anyway, but still had stuff like chocolate.

Ended up getting sick all the time, feeling weak, fatigued, I looked like Casey, pretty much just withered away it was shocking looking back on it. I was so thin but fat at the same time from all the bloating and food I was eating trying to get enough energy in.

Finally my doctor, who practices both eastern and western medicine and when possible gives you the choice of treatment, sat me down and basically said "you need to go have some red meat."

I mean my vitamin B was low, everything was low. Worst of all my natural test production was so low and that impacted every part of my life.

This was over a two year period. To begin with I felt great, but that was because going vegetarian cut out all junk and processed food. I thought it was the best thing ever but I was wrong.

Eating a balanced healthy diet is the way to go.

I knew you'd love the attention.

Looks like I've got quite a nice space occupying your brain. I detected about a million more catty comments there, only mildly masked as being some sort of constructive points. Since you love looking at me so much....

There were no catty comments. I posted valid information about diet, aimed at Connie not you, and you came in with "I have a perfect BMI and barely any body fat. I don't pump iron because I'm not interested in looking like a fucking bodybuilder. I have a dancer's body and I can dance a full stage routine for 2 hours, night after night after night, like MJ in his prime. If that makes me unfit? Sure, I guess I'm unfit. *rolls eyes*"

YOU made it about you. I just replied to what you said. So stop playing the victim or acting like my posts are meant to just put you down, thus discrediting the valid information given in them.

Want catty? Okay....

"Can you tell how many fucks I give?" Judging by the way you look in that photo, Id say you give exactly 0 fucks, you look like you enjoy taking several though...

If you really wanted to make constructive points to Coonie, you would have responded to ANY of the points posted in the video that's in the first post.
I did, I replied to Connie before you ever came in to this thread with your ME ME ME replies, in fact, YOU replied to ME. Ive even PMed him advice, and spoken to him back and forth, in much more detail than I have here because I dont want to make his health public unless he chooses to.

My buddy next to me is a third year therapy student. He says, ahh you know what, fuck it, that would go into a much longer post I cant be fucked talking about,a and if you want therapy go get it on your own time. Bottom line, whoever did it, you CHOSE the photo to represent what YOU want to be represented like in the public eye.

And that my friends is a wrap, I hope everyone can tell that when it comes to health Casey has no idea what he's talking about, so please get your information from a balanced source, and eat a balanced diet.

This says it better than I can:

DIETARY cholesterol, the cholesterol that you consume, has little to no effect on your body. You know this, right? Doctors are now recommending a keto diet for people who have high cholesterol because it lowers your cholesterol levels. Sort of the opposite of what your saying isn't it?
A keto diet, for those following along at home, is next to no carbs, with HIGH fats full of cholesterol.

The fat is bad, cholesterol is bad myth is a marketing ploy to get people to buy "FAT FREE!" products.

Fats are good for you.

Im eating my full fat greek yougurt and oats right now.

Tell me about it man. My girlfriend's mother was visiting last time I did keto for 6 weeks and she would frown and shake her head and lecture me all the time about eating too much cholesterol. She was convinced I would get sick, and told me off for getting her daughter into it too. She's got a mean "I disapprove" look on her too ;)

Everyone thinks Ill get fat from how much I eat.

Check out my friend Hungry Haydo on Youtube, he's a competitive eater, and people just dont get how he can stay in shape.
He raised over $16,000 in about 2 months from competitive eating for Prostate Cancer research. http://www.youtube.com/user/hayden0790
