u dont think he promoted smoking in any way, how about all of the young kids out there that saw pac on mtv, or at their school with a pack of newports, they loved the shit out of Pac so of course they wanna copy.

Thats like saying I promote smoking to the people around me (I smoke a lot).

Or that Pac promoted having a bold head.

Its just something he did, its not like he went out and said GO SMOKE or made songs about it. He promoted Hennessy and Alize more than he did smoking.

Pac smoked, sure, so do a lot of people. I dont think he promoted it in any way.
You're not a role model, though. As a celebrity and an entertainer, he was put in that position as a role model, even if he didn't ask for it. It's the price of being a celebrity. Kids looked up to him. Like ApacalypseNow said, kids probably wanted to copy him, like all kids try and copy their childhood heroes to an extent.

no, what does THUG mean, what do YOU think THUG means
well after hearing pac's defition of it...to me it means the same thing..the accryonym "THE HATE YOU GIVE" and LIFE which is "LITTLE INFANTS FUCKS EVERYBODY"

but if ur looking for a more literal definition of "THUG" after hearing all these 2Pac songs is someone who came up really hard, who is into gang banging, shooting, whatever, robbing banks, some crazy ass guy who doesn't have a heart ..i think thats my definition of it.....whats urs?

mine, is staying true while doing wut u gotta do to survive and live happily, stayin strong and independent, doin wut you feel. i love word thug, it means something to me. well when pac says it , it does. buckshots definition is thoroughhearted universal g, "wat could i do but be a thug"" ""my nigga pac was a legend muhafucka he made THUGS outta everybody" ""if ya fall stand tall and some back for more" only got fucked by a drug dealer, never felt the real passion of thug nigga"

your Definition of pacs THUG is wrong due to the fact that u said, ""who is into gang banging, shooting, whatever, robbing banks, some crazy ass guy who doesn't have a heart" now pac says, "cant sleep cuz all this dirt make my heart hurt" ijm STARVING cant get a job, so i resort to violent ROBBINGS my life is hard"" THUGS show no mercy for an enemy, but they have a heart man, get that right" "im not callin myself a thug cuz i wanna rob u and rape u and things, im callin myself a thug cuz i came from the gutter and im STILL HERE"" thugs deep

do wut ya gotta do, stay true, then me and u, are the same, feel me, thugs is ONE lol, one thug one thug, LMAO peace man

I dont think Pac promoted smoking because to promote something you have to say its good. Pac just smoked. He never said hey kids, smoking is cool! Promoting is advertising which Pac never did. He never encouraged people to smoke.

nah, yeah pac just rapped about what he did.

he talked about smokin ports because it was a part of his life, doesn't mean he thinks its a good thing, or that anyone else should do it.

Pac only promoted smoking if i promote smoking by doing it in public. would you say he promoted murder and drug dealing as well? he rapped about those things alot and i never thought of it as him promoting this lifestyle, he's just telling it like it is for him. and the role model argument is crap. i understand that when you're famous people look up to you and want to emulate you, but that doesn't mean that you are promoting that behavior, or saying that kids should do it. otherwise you could say that any actor who goes to an R-rated movie is promoting R-Rated movies to kids, or if a celebrity drinks, he's promoting alcohol to minors. it's a bullshit argument.

You might not want to promote it and it might not be your intention, but you're indirectly promoting it as a famous person. The quick way that you can test that notion is to ask yourself, "How would Philip Morris feel about seeing Tupac smoking in public?" The quick, logical answer: "Philip Morris would feel good because he doesn't have to pay for the free promotion. The reality is that kids do look up to famous people and emulate them. That's the reality. You cannot disagree with that because you can probably pick out a couple of childhood friends who did that in some way or fashion, or you might have been that child. Now, does that mean we should blame rappers for why kids pick up smoking? No, we should not. However, the kids do emulate and that's that.

It's not about placing blame, but about confronting the realities.

but the question here is promotion. do kids want to emulate celebrities? sure. and you can't blame them (the celebs) for that. however there is a difference between you doing something and people wanting to copy it and promoting something. to me promoting is actively encouraging people to do something. in that sense, Pac certainly did not promote smoking.

Yeah it all just the fact these people put on Television and broadcast smoking part of every day life anywhere same with drinking or driving a car all on tv also same as any other media form
certain people in media get more people look up to them children alot of media go tochildren target audience children make them look up its same thing in a way with sports
i dont feel unless your a person an image for kids specificaly that you should Worry about things do might affecting children or how image is publicised & whats other wise seen. also lot of play in a persons personal morality if in big position & see yourself in what ever way as what take part in & also theres a public image & private

other wise but like already said Its Parents or guardians responsibilities For Kids Role models

however otherwise any person looking up another person in ways emulate or pick up things or do this & that thats whether the person is "known" by millions or whether not

There cant be denial therel always be some looking up to but that dont have shit to do w/ you unless its your responsibility where youre in specific position where children look up to you thats the only shit that makes a difference other wise a movies just on film television show just in a box a songs just on a radio it then all falls on how every one else acts
