I think Spurs will do well this season though. They played well today and had a good attitude about them. They gave Liverpool players very little time on the ball.

Yeah, after watching today, agreed with you Bobby. Their starting 11 are good, and even their bench has good depth.

I wouldn't be surprised if they hit the top 5.

I'm expecting a few surprises this season.

he would have went regardless as soon as Real Madrid came looking for him and besides would Alonso have played so well if Benitez hadnt tried to sell him the summer previous? I dont think he would have. That was a kick up the arse for him after being so mediocre the previous season.

Personally i think even if Liverpool had Alonso v Spurs, they would still have been beaten. They were poor all over the pitch with the exception of Reina and Glen Johnson. Carragher took himself and Skrtel out of the game with the biggest piece of stupidity i have seen in a long time lol wtf was he doing? we were already short at centre half with Agger out injured. Ayala did ok when he came on though. The full backs did ok. Babel was rubbish as usual. Dunno why he started ahead of Benayoun. Riera was out injured. Kuyt worked hard as usual but didnt play that well. Lucas wasnt great but wasnt the worst of them. He was up against a very good player in Palacios. Spurs gave Liverpool midfielders no time on the ball. Gerrard and Torres had poor games as well.

I think that if you consider how Chelsea or Man Utd played in their opening games, both would have been beaten if they were up against Spurs away.

i just read that Skrtel has a cracked jaw.

Apparantly Real Madrid and Barca are to battle it out to sign Riera who is angry at being left out of the team for the game against Spurs. I thought he was injured.

"What’s changed since the Premier League broke away from the Football League in 1992? Everything. If you won the First Division title, you were the best team in England. If you win the Premier League, you owe someone £500 million."

According to the Daily Mirror today, Rafa has 2 million to spend. Out of the Keane and Alonso sales and the other sales, a measly 2 million. its ridiculous. I wouldnt be surprised if he walked soon. Those 2 American bastards are driving the club into the ground.

I thought Liverpool never made anything out of the Keane deal as they still owed Spurs like 80-90% of the original transfer fee.

Plus he's already spent like £20+ of the Alosnso fee on Aquilani.

^^yea i know. thats what i mean. they didnt really lose anything on Keane. They didnt pay 17 million for Johnson either. Portsmouth still owed a large portion of the transfer fee for Peter Crouch and as far as i know this was written off as part of the deal. Aquilani cost around 20 million so he should have a nice transfer budget left over you'd imagine. In the last years Liverpool have brought in more money from the sale of players than what they have spent on players.

The Americans are gonna be staying. Gilette sold the MTL Canadians just to pay off loans which was used to buy Liverpool...Canadians make a lot of money, every match is sold out and the times we make the playoffs people are ready to spend 500$ on a ticket. So, he must be dead serious about owning Pool'
