i checked like 2-3 hours ago and found out there was an RC3 lol. - havent looked at any news android-related for about a month. i'm only flashing gingerbread when there'll be a stable release. im happy with CM6.1.1 at the moment though, so i dont mind waiting... it'll be worth the wait.
CM7 has been stable since RC2. In fact RC2 seems even stabler than the final CM6 release. Frankly based on RC4 I'd say the official "stable" release will drop within 48 hours and be 99.9% the same as RC4.
Officially now running CM7 on my NookColor. Overclocked to 1.1GhZ and it's flying. Will post a screenshot tomorrow when I've got it all set up to my liking.
Yup. I believe that was the reason for the hardware acceleration in RC4. Tested YouTube and some local video files and all is good. I wouldn't have flashed otherwise.
I just doubled my Quadrant score with CM7. Rooted stock was giving me about 980. CM7 is giving me 1900! With the overclock of course.
Overclock doesn't seem to hinder battery life either. Just hit 14hours since it was last plugged in, and there's still 49% battery left.
Wifey wants a new phone on Verizon in May. Looking at either the Samsung Galaxy S2, or the LG Revolution.
I need to do more research. I'm leaning towards the Samsung, but the LG is gonna be identical hardware to the T-Mobile G2X, which means it'll get rooted quickly and there'll almost certainly be CyanogenMod 7 coming soon to it.
^Galaxy S2 seems to be superior at everything though. I wouldn't consider it only because of its extremely high price tag and I'm not really a fan of its design.
Also, this might be worth a look into if you prefer Snapdragon: http://www.gsmarena.com/14_ghz_samsung_i9001_galaxy_s_plus_with_gingerbread_surfaces-news-2467.php
It's similar to the original Galaxy S though, with a higher capacity battery, 1,4ghz CPU and a more solid build.
so i flashed CM7 RC4 and my apps arent showing up... I saved most of them to the SD card. I have done a Nandroid backup... will i need to manually install each one?

Motorolas usually look like they are quality phones but after seeing how Milestones are made under their cover I suddenly changed my opinion about Motorola. The quality is terrible. Apparently it's like that in all of the latest Motorola phones.
Except of core modules they use components of low quality, and then they glue(!) them to each other. Sometimes even ear-speakers are of low quality.

It's not the case with all Motos. My Sidekick Slide was a Motorola phone and it's the most solid phone I've ever owned in terms of build quality. Nothing else comes close.
Marz - nice!!! The Atrix is dope as hell. Quality phone. Let us know how you get on with it. Looks like you're the first SH member to have a dual-core Android phone Can you do me a favor and install an app called Quadrant (it's free) and tell us what score you get on it? It measures your CPU performance in different factors and gives you an overall score.
