What is Tupac trying to say in the chorus of this song? The language is illogical:

" Come on
I remember what my papa told me
Remember what my pops told me
Blasphemy "
Is he saying that his Pops incited a blasphemous attitude in his self, or what, it doesn't make sense

he's just saying that he remember what his Pop told him. Like 1verse "I got advice from my father" etc.

Pac talks deep on the track. When I heard it I was amazed cause I Relate to this song like no one else

Want to know something - the Makaveli album is one of the Pac albums (I have All btw) I only occasionally listen to, and I never gave this track much thought up until now. It works like that with me a lot - Tupacs music. Kind of like a relationship. And I can hear what people say that this track is good.

Knowing Tupac (to the best I can) and listening to Blasphemy, given a little thought and it all makes sense. For eg:

" Back in the ghetto doing wild shit
Looking at the sun don't pay
Criminal mind all the time
Waiting for judgment day " - The reference to poverty I easily missed, but now I see. One of the things I love about Tupac's music: Double Entendres.

edit: also didn't Tupac only meet his father after his first shooting? That's what I have Read. Or is he talking about God? God/Father

Knowing Tupac (to the best I can)

I doubt this very much due to your lack of awareness of Tupac's father figures.

'Legs' & particularly Mutulu were Tupac's father figures.

Billy Garland was his father by blood & not much else.

As for God, at times he did refer to God in this capacity.

Mutulu &/or God are the best bet.

this song is too deep for any of us to unsrcamble the meaning to it, its just that deep. I find myself listening to it over and over wondering what he was trying to say. Sometimes I stumble on things that could mean 3 or 4 different things. Its just that deep.

Reading this thread is like doing an analysis lesson back in my university dayz.. As my teacher would say "Almost every piece of art like poetry or writing is based on metaphors..."

This whole song is really saying where are you God why are you letting people suffer its very deep.

Actually the main theme of the song has more to do with people being blasphemous by paying lip service to Christian morality while not actually living by it.

The rest are just metaphors using Biblical allegories. "comin for the Pharoah's kids" is a reference to God killing them and a reference to Pac's retaliation. There's the common "resurrection" metaphor that Pac used for his first shooting etc.

if you look at the context of the song,he is talking about the two rules that his father (stepfather) Mutulu taught to him,but he had taken them for granted at first.That is why he is repeating it to himself aswell.
