But What About Da Kidz?

At timez I worry about the future because of what the present is
Just remember I wasn't the one who said "Fuck The Kids"
When the schools I came from didn't have quality books
Hendering me from a proper education gave me the mindset of a crook
And I ain't justifyin' neither, but I blame it on this nation
When somethin' like a stadium is more important than education
Or even war. So what the hell are we alive for
Without the knowledge, you'd oppress the kids growing up poor
I tell these kids to stay wise and strong
But even they can see society remainin' to be wrong
When the community they live in is poverty
They need help too, while you push em off their property
You raise the value knowin' their parents low income
High class gettin' tax cuts, its proof you don't give a fuck
Mama was sick and she can't afford healthcare
Her kids got split up across the country in foster care
And it seems nobody else was on their team
When all the younger peers I knew, grew up around many fiends
May God forgive em for their lost minds. It ain't their fault
Since they were black, their chance to have power came to a halt
Even though they went to college tryna better themselves
Tuition raised, nothin' got paid, so they remained stranded in ghetto hell
Experiences I tell didn't always have a happy ending
The youth of tomorrow share forced sorrow for attending-
-Life as a minority. Destined to fail by the system
Money went to upper class communities, while the government missed them
And this is true cuz millions of dollaz are gettin deducted from social services
I'd never pledge to their flag because it represents murderers
And when I tried to stand up, they blatantly called my struggle a sob story
What could I say to these kids, when they are denied all glory?
What could I say to these kids, when their parents are never home
Cuz they work all day, just to bring home a little pay
And when they return from school to find nothin' in their cabinets
You can see the anger built up from yearz. They done had it
And nobody would to talk to 'em, now priorities are lost
This hypocritical country screwed the low class while the kids paid the biggest cost
Look deep into the ghettoes and I'll tell you what you I see
A pregnant teen with nobody to love or nothin to eat
A highschool graduate at least, but a handout ain't what we seek
Another kid runnin' the streets with his shoes exposing his feet
Couldn't afford Back-To-School-Shopping, because that program got stopped
Services like troubled youth programs are planned on being dropped
This nation was established on crime. And it remains to be
Watchin' my little sista cry, I CAN NEVER BE ASHAMED TO SPEAK

At timez I worry about the future because of what the present is
Just remember I wasn't the one who said "Fuck The Kids"

Damn man that is some knowledge right there. It's the truth too and can't argue with that. To be honest that's the best poem I've read in a long ass time.

favorite line: hard to pick just one but this had me laughin

When somethin' like a stadium is more important than education

incredibly long lmao no but it was worth it. Real good stuff. could feel the raw emotion and the first hand feelings and thoughts from this. Gives understanding to those more fortunate that doesn't have to suffer. Great writing. Keep it up.
