Don't Go To Sleep EP (what's the real deal?)

#1
can anyone provide some pertinent information about this release?
like for instance what's the real track list? because i've seen a few track listings. some cd's have some what different covers and backs, some say DPG records, some don't. what would be the best way to weed out all the fakes? was there ever a repress?
and what's the japanese connection?

on a side note,i just noticed that the cover picture with Pac & Daz is from the "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" video shoot.

there has been a thread already made about this which can be searched for right here on streethop..sry too lazy to search it up lol...but the reason for so many different tracklists is that there are different versions of the cd from the time of the first net release...

i can tell u that the tracklist released on hitemup.com (way back) had 8 songs, and the only one that didn't leak was 187um.

its not hard to d/l. it's a good album.

^^^i downloaded it about 5 years ago when it came out. i just missed the boat on all the official information about it when it was first released. and i've since been seeing conflicting information about it in recent months, so i was just looking for the original story.

i just really wanted to know what's fake and what's not,a side from the obivious signs like it being a cd-r and things of that nature. was it ever repressed since the original released? so if i find a pressed copy i could know if it's the original release or a repress or a bootleg.

that tracklist was probably the bootleg or the jap bootleg. the one that was first advertised did have eight tracks. however, there were two that didn't make it. "187UM" and "Heaven or Hell (Outro)". this was posted up on dpgrecordz.net before the pre-orders were even up. then shortly before the pre-orders, a new 6-track tracklist without those two tracks were posted up along with a change from "Makaveli & Dillinger" to "Dillinger & Makaveli". then the whole pre-order scandal went down, and the street bootleg started appearing. a while after, some guy on the dpg boards started advertising a 13-track version with remastered tracks, and then the same one was sold on HMV JP. that's the order if i remember correctly.

i didn't properly look at the tracklist above, but i don't think that's neither the us nor the jap bootleg. no clue what version that is but it doesn't get any bootier.

thanks for all the information. it was vary helpful. armed with that i was able to weed out all the fakes (or at least i think so) and obtain a copy that i'm more then happy with. it's a factory pressed 12 track ep,with front and back professionally printed factory inserts.
the date says 2002,and that it's manufactured and distributed by TuAfe,inc. 68th street,New York,NY. so i guess it's not a japanese version, but it has a barcode and a Makaveli Records logo on it.

here's the tracklist:

1. Wake Up My People (Intro)
2. Don't Go 2 Sleep ft. Kurupt
3. First 2 Bomb ft. Tanya Herron
4. I'm Dumpin' ft, Young Assassins
5. Let's Fight (N**** Wanna Get It On)
6. First 2 Bomb (Original Version) ft. Outlawz
7. Don't Go 2 Sleep (Original Version) ft. EDI of the Outlawz
8. They Don't Give a F*** About Us ft. Outlawz
9. Don't Go 2 Sleep (Soul G-Mix) ft. Kurupt
10. Only Move 4 Tha Money ft. Bad Azz
11. First 2 Bomb (Bad Boy Killaz Mix)
12. First 2 Bomb (Instrumental) (Bonus Track)

i've seen one's without out Only Move 4 Tha Money and i was going to buy Daz's album for that song but now i don't have too. and it has the (Soul G-mix) as well which is tight to have on it. and both the BBK mix and the version without BB or DR references. and the quality is better then what i had perviously. it all so had little sound bites with Daz calling in to a radio station talking to a DJ named Batman, Daz asked Batman what he thought about the MD album and the DJ said "it's Banging" in a kind of cheech voice (which is funny) but the Dj said something about the intro talking about "the names" which are his words, and Daz says the one of the last joint we did together,i'm guessing with pac. but the intro dosen't have any names in it,so maybe he had a different intro then what came out. so i'm not sure with track Daz is referring too. anyone know what i'm talking abut?

anyway thanks for the help......peace!:thumb:

The Intro was real (Daz took the outro of the true OG (which was unleaked at the time) and turned it into the intro of his EP) but the "Heaven or Hell outro" that was floating around on some p2p networks was fake, Dante confirmed this on his old 2pacshakur.org message board years ago.

187um i remember as being on the tracklist too. this song was either part of a fake advertisement by daz (since he was the one who promoted this thing in the first place) or it was real and unleaked.

I get the feeling that Daz put out the EP online w/the exception of a few songs, and was planning on releasing the whole thing eventually but then in the end he didn't. either because he didn't feel like it or because the other two tracks were fake.

some happy fanboy must have slapped together an interview with a dark sounding synth to make the "heaven or hell outro."

I wouldn't cop this version. No "Only Move 4 The Money", Ja Rule's shitty remake of "Pain", and "Big Time", which has absolutely nothing to do with Makaveli & Dillinger, it's not even a DR-era track.

187um is on the marmakaveli.net confirmed list as well as a remix of the track. :)
