Can you name me someone who doesn't misinterpret the bible? Can you name me someone who has a bible in it's original form, and not the English translated bible? Can you name me a religion that doesn't teach the poorly translated version of the bible?

Catholics believe that wine turns into the blood of christ inside the human body, and that a cracker turns into his body inside the body. It isn't symbolic, it is literal.

1. Is this Canibilism? 2. Are they fucking mental?
No, i just said in my post, if u read it, that no religion is right bc God doesn't say to make a religion. Hesays to follow Christ and remember the 7th day.

---
and for whoever laughed at me i cant find it and not in the mood.

Check it:

"Do not commit adultery." is a sin.

In the Bible he talks about it and says even fantasizing about someone is adultery. Because if you fantasize about someone other than your wife/husband, then you have less love for that person, therefore less happiness, and since "God" "loves us" he wants us to be happy, by following his rules....and last i checked:

If you use porn, you are usually fantasizing about someone who isn't your wife.

do i use porn? yes, im not a fuckin saint. but i cant find a good woman. and last i checked the bible, he even says a man isn't living a healthy life if he doesn't find a good woman.

The "bible" is a book of fantasy nonsense and bullshit that contradicts itself every 5 pages, written by acid-tripping fiction writers.

there is no god, there is no heaven and there is definitely no "sin".

strike me fucking down right now if i'm wrong.

oh wait, my life still rules.

the sooner humanity gets over this bullshit the better off we all will be.

if i had existed thousands of years ago i would have written a much better book and today i would be the equivalent of jesus, this is a fact.

look at scientology, l ron hubbard did the exact same thing less than a hundred years ago, was even directly quoted as saying "the best way to make money in life is to start your own religion" and look what's happened - there's now tens of thousands of idiots believing scientology is a "religion", giving millions of dollars to the church, defending their beliefs just as passionately as any fundamentalist christian/muslim/sikh/whatever, exploiting the weak, believing completely outlandish "creation" stories that are laughable.... there is NO difference except timeframes. none.

fuck anyones gods, fuck anyones churches, fuck anyones retarded books whose only intrinsic value is a few OBVIOUS morals that any and everybody can figure out the logic to on their own. the current universe is 14 gigayears old, this planet is 5 billion years old, one-cell lifeforms on this planet are 3.8 billion years old, our form of life (homo sapiens) are 200,000 years old, the earliest known concept of any supernatural "religion" happened within the last 10,000 years, and within the next few thousand, the concept will be universally considered to be as laughable as our current reflections on what people believed just a few hundred years ago such as the earth being the centre of the universe and being flat.

it is nothing more than a manipulative fear-based tool used by people to make other people do their bidding and to make people believe that, despite the billions upon billions of years that existed before what we know as "life" and that will exist after it, there is some sort of deeper meaning to a few billion people of one species "existing" on a random fucking minute planet in one solar system of billions.

too bad there isn't, live your life, do what the fuck you want, and don't waste your time on this ridiculous fairy stories dreamed up people who for the most part were actually a lot less intelligent than any of us purely by virtue of the time they existed and their capability/access for knowledge.

yeh that shit is cool and all, but does it really matter if people do find some comfort in the bible and other religious things. and im not talking on an extreme level, im talking on a shadows or myself level.

The bible isn't even a true translation of it's self. The Bible we all read today is the King James translation, as far as I am aware.

LOL @ some of the comments in this thread.

There are people like you on the corner of every high street. Preaching the world is going to end.

Do the Catholics on here really believe that the wine becomes Jesus' blood inside you, or the bread his body?

Do the Christians on here deny the Dinosaurs?

You know, I had a dream about Casey the other day, he seemed as upset in it as he was in his epic post. Only difference is, he was going fucking nutty cause I wanted to get smashed, and he wanted to pick up the new Prince game on Xbox360.

I woke up confused, I blame listening to Sugarless trashed off wine a few hours before. lol.

----

As for the wine and bread thing - it's just a metaphor (even though, people used to think it magically happened through transubstantiation). I don't know any Catholic that sees it as drinking blood or flesh. If so, I suggest we kill it with fire.

The only reason u think i am a crackhead is because I've never dignified it a response when everyone thinks that I was on crack. Ive never said it, its imaginary but you claim I'm a "known" crackhead because when you accuse someone of being on crack its always best to not hear a word from the someone

what seems to be happening in this thread is people pretending that there wasnt faith before organised religion or that there wouldnt be faith had organised religion not been organised

It's not a metaphor in the Catholic church, it is symbolic in the Protestant church. If you are a catholic and don't belief it, aren't you letting down your faith?

And why do the majority of followers no longer belief it? Because it's ridiculous. Just like they no longer belief man flying is the work of the devil, or do they deny the solar system and all that it is in it any longer. Just like most religious people won't deny the existence of dinosaurs. As Science disproves the stories people of faith change their opinions. I hear a lot of people defend the Bible by saying it is metaphorical. Seems a bit desperate to me. That isn't the story that's been peddled for the last couple of thousand years. It's a bit like after every natural disaster or death of a child when a religious person says "God works in mysterious ways."

Eventually there won't be any more to prove and conventional religion will die. But we are already controlled in different ways now. Through fear of Terrorism and the belief in Neoconservative ideology. So religion isn't really needed in the same way it was. The Media is to us what the bible was. We are controlled through the news.

There has always been belief in god. And someone has always created Holy days. The name changes the dates don't. Wasn't Winters solstice on December 25, seems a familiar date to me. Or is that just coincidence?

It's easier to move the sheep and the unquestioning from one belief to the next if the dates don't change.

Personally, I think I am done with the religion discussion on here. Everyone is entitled to their faith, or lack of.

I am Catholic, and I'm the worst one ever. Then again, I don't care for organized religion as a whole, for me - it stinks, but I won't hate on someone that does place importance to it. In the church it isn't a metaphor/symbolic, but most level-headed Catholics (by that I mean by identity) know it is.

And why do the majority of followers no longer belief it? Because it's ridiculous. Just like they no longer belief man flying is the work of the devil, or do they deny the solar system and all that it is in it any longer. Don't believe in it cause it's silly. For others, they see the symbolism intertwined with the idea of transubstantiation. I can't argue for all Catholics out there, only for myself and the ones I know. The book itself shouldn't be taken face value, it's just stories. Some with a moral background (for the little there is), others as a historical account (New-Testament for the most part). Also, keep in mind, most of the stories involving floods, earthquakes, etc, don't really understand the laws of nature, science, etc as we do now. So, for the writers back then, whoever they are (or how much opium they smoked up), relate everything to a God, angels, etc.

Eventually there won't be any more to prove and conventional religion will die. But we are already controlled in different ways now. Through fear of Terrorism and the belief in Neoconservative ideology. So religion isn't really needed in the same way it was. The Media is to us what the bible was. I don't disagree.
As I have previously stated, I'm not religious in any way. The life I lead now doesn't refer to anything but my own [acquired] morality. At the end of the day, I know I do more good than bad and that is how I live, religious book, or no book.

As Pittsey said, as time passes, more and more part of religious books that for thousands of years, idiots have said were literal events, become quite obviously ridiculous and within time the entirety of them will be viewed as such. Concepts like "sin" and "god" as as retarded as literally believing in wine turning into blood, or jesus creating feeding a thousand people with a loaf of bread or whatever the fuck. just nonsense.

man flying is the work of the devil
...?

I hear a lot of people defend the Bible by saying it is metaphorical. Seems a bit desperate to me.
how is it desperate to assume that at the Least parts of it is? why wouldn't they be?

It's a bit like after every natural disaster or death of a child when a religious person says "God works in mysterious ways."
your just spinning it to one of your main arguments against religion, which is hypocrisy or control or u dig until you can some how paint it as doing wrong instead of good. "God works in mysterious ways" is more often used for any confusion. you wait for shit 2 happen so you can say "i wonder what their answer to this is..." why is there have to be an answer? theres people in religion and out of religion that are bullshitters

But we are already controlled in different ways now. Through fear of Terrorism and the belief in Neoconservative ideology.
just because U are paranoid about U being controlled doesnt entitle U

20th or 21st? like every solstice?

to move the sheep and the unquestioning
if there was no questioning of anything or all sheep it doesnt sustain thousands of years, but coincidentally what you are talking about questioning like the Answer to this Answer to that , coincidentally we're talking about religion with the basis of Faith

or others, they see the symbolism intertwined with the idea of transubstantiation
interesting point because whether or not some people use reasoning of miracles as an excuse, theres also the basis that these were about actual miracles which intertwines with faith and the unknown

other people use it not as an excuse but as a "this is more likely what happened" approach

All my wives are porn stars. So there.
key word, usually.

As time passes, something we used to know to be true, is later proven wrong with further science advances.
Then another theory comes. ...etc. So far, Science is just theory, hardly any facts.

They say the world is so and so years old, then they find bones to a "Eve" and say it's older. hmm...

Science doesn't seem to be always right bro.

My point is, i'm no religious fanatic. But the reasons for the "sins" is that if you follow all, you generally find happiness.

and i have yet to see anyone go and talk about this post yet.

Hey Casey Rain,

Go look up Christopher Langan, "The smartest man in the world", who says he can prove there is a god and an afterlife mathematically. Go read his Cognitive Theoretic Model of the Universe, don't worry, you won't make it out of the first paragraph. Then when you tell yourself he is irrational, remind yourself that Stephen Hawking espouses the multi-verse theory, which relies solely on mathematics to prove an infinite amount of unobservable universes, and hence he says this proves there is no god. Forget that this theory relies on eternal, immutable, transcendent laws; that simply always had to exist. Then go choke on your failed logic.
