HipHop 2006

i do one of these every year....soo enjoy:

HipHop 2006 -24th Jan 2006

well.. its the start of the year again..
-what im listening 2.. isnt wat im hearing, and..
i fear its coz im getting old, but i suppose..
-i've never really been commercial, so?
everyone seems to be "gettin low" -but that crunk shit sickens me
it makes me suspicious, i wonder "whos really listening?"
-i mean, is it me?.. or is it just something really lame?
pop artists acting hiphop, man, it makes me ashamed
..but if its all the same, let me tell you wat im coppin..
-Papoose is off the hook, whenever he's droppin?..
and its not like Saigon's album wasn't dope..
..but his mixtapes were definitely hotter though
oh, and Rass Kass.. he's still iller than ever!
-even Guru droppin over "Kingpin" was incredible
..even better was Ghostface when he kick it "Like That"
-Jigga & Nas?..man they really took their Mics back!
thats right jack! One Be Lo had the sickest album of the year!
while MC Lyte came back, remindin us of "Wonder Years"
and it makes me wonder here.. why everyone hates on Can-a-bis
..maybe no-one heard the track "Da Facelift"..
it was some creative shit, just like "Cigarettes"
-the Fort Minor reminds me of some next level shit..
..remember GZA & Muggs? -takin us back to the 90's
while Public Enemy push 50..& still rhyming..
their 2 albums were hype as!.. with mad verses!
and AZ's album was superb, damn near perfect..
..& now i've been converted to a Sage Francis fan..
coz his album was hotter than Atmosphere's last..
..and at last Felt 2 made a bigger impact..
-while Big Shug showed Premier's beats are still in-tact
and its a fact that Common and Kanye are are a visual combo
-that being said, 9th and LB delivered us the Minstrel Show
..listen, OH.. man, why do i keep complaining about this art?!
-hiphop is still alive, and pumpin.. & its staying in our hearts.

I remember the one you did in 2005 - I like these, they're really personal yet not in an emotional way so it's different and really cool to read, good flow too :)

Yeah I liked this a lot you can tell you definately have a love for the art. I also identified with "pop artists" quote. I think the reason that it sometimes seems like hip-hop is dead is because the rap music that gets the most attention is garbage a lot of the time, meant for the general population (not necessarily hip-hop heads) to buy because of the dance track or whatever. But you were right so much in your poem is good rap, so real hip-hop really is alive...

Nice idea, once more it's just like you write down your thoughts, a lil conversation in your head. I like it and I can follow it....but I don't even know 50% of the songs you mentioned :(, therefor it's hard 2 relate I guess.

I like the concept of this poem although the rapper Skills has a song simlar to this, I also enjoyed how you mixed opinion with every LP you listed,. You also kept it old school by mentioning Gza and Publci Enemy. I think this poem is good although I had a hard time keeping a beat but thats just cuz my ass is slow otherwise good show!!

Concept= Unique
Expression=Opinionated but agreeable
Wordplay/Flow=Like A Rap but was cool
What I think=I'm not a Cannibus fan but I'm one of this poem. Like I said, unique idea and I liked the time you put in this. Someone should do a similar concept...

Peace
