House Decor

What does your apartment or house look like? What kind of furniture and style, if any? If not, what would you want your dream house to look like?

I hate Modern Contemporary. You know, everything black and white with chrome. Or odd-shaped chairs that look like they came melting out of a Dali painting. Ugh. I prefer a comfy look. It's no specific style, just what i like. I got espresso or cherry wood furniture, beige chairs and carpet. Burgandy curtains. I also have retro tendencies and like artifacts from other eras. Old radio from the 30s, Felix the Cat clock, that kind of thing. So I got odd things here and there. My dream place would be art deco all the way.

I don't know how anyone could live in a black and white room. Black and white furniture is ugly and feels depressing.

I like light-colored wooden furniture, I like modern and comfy. Not weird-modern that is 'fashionable' now though. I like it simple and neat, not empty though. By simple I mean that I don't really like curves and strange gadgets on my furniture. I also like foreign stuff, especially Asian and/or Asian-styled. I also collect stuff that I find appealing. Especially cool little items that mean something to me. I like bright and/or warm colored details. Pillows, sheets, carpets etc.

In my room I have a furniture set made of mountain alder. I like the bright color and how natural it looks. My floor is made of beechwood.

I like this.

Personally i don't like contemporary either. Mostly i like hard woods and warm colours. At the moment i am looking for a new house ( i have to move to keep edub off my tail) i am looking at victorian places from the 19th century. I like the high ceilings, bay windows and 100 year old fire places.

It's Gerard Butlers house in New York. I like open floor plans, big windows, columns, the colors, its masculine but still pretty. Masculine is sexier. My bedroom now is black and white minimalist neat and clean. I have Gustav Klimt paintings...I think they make it feminine without making me want to gag. Too much unnecessary shit gives me ocd. My worst nightmare would be florals or pastels. I cringe.

Minimal but not clinical. Which happens if you try to be minimal in a modern contemporary way.

I like that style of what keco posted too. That is cool. It looks warm and inviting.

I'm more of a city dweller, so condos and lofts are my bag. Certain things I'd want, no questions asked, is high ceilings and dark wooden floors. I don't mind stainless steel/chromed out fridges and appliances, but not everything. I'm pretty simple on style when it comes to furniture. I do like historic and cultural items and art pieces from around the world. Shiet, if I could - I'd have a general from the Terracota Army chilling in my livingroom. lol

Gerard Butlers' is alright, but too rustic for me.

I don't know if any of you have ever seen it, maybe there are pictures on the internet somewhere: a house in Los Angeles that belonged at different times to F. Scott Fitzgerald, Marlon Brando, and Morrissey. I dig how Moz decorated it. No idea what style. Very spartan, just a little phonograph, a big matronly wooden chair, and (weirdly) a fax machine. He was only interviewed in that one room so I can't describe it further. Big spiral staircase. If I ever come into a bunch of money, I'll buy that house and invite some of you.

that sea themed room is freaky.. how does one sleep in there??

as for me, my living room, dining room, and kitchen are one big room (condo style). so the furniture for the living room and dining room and the counters are chocolate brown. the floor is light beige wood.

i liked the style keco posted. however you need a very big place for that style not to look tacky.

I don't like that fish bedroom. It's all fun and games till Jaws breaks through, of them sharks from Deep Blue Sea, and you know what - no fucking Samuel Jackson to help you, cause the fucken sharks ate himmmm...
