How Is It That 2Pac Went To A School Of Performing Arts When He Was So Damn Poor??!!

I feel like I partially know the answer to this but I don't really know it.

When watching Ressurection when all the narrators were telling the story instead of 2Pac, the viewers were told that 2Pac's family was the poorest family on probably the poorest block in the whole of Baltimore. Even Jada Pinkett said when she went to 2Pac's house that 2Pac was so poor that there were no bedsheets and I think she said there were also no pillows on the bed.

With all that being said, how the hell and who the hell was paying for 2Pac to attend that Performing Arts School if he was so damn poor?

Here's what I partially heard or missed out on:

In the movie, I heard he auditioned or either tried out to get into that school and was accepted. Like was this a scholarship to attend the school for free or was this some type of reduced tuition or something? Or am I even wrong about that or have what I think I know as blurry or partially correct? Please correct me on this if I'm wrong.

This part has always been blury for me and I need the answers. I don't think the movie gave me enough. Either that or I just missed out on the answer.

Anyone please feel free to chime in and steer me on this one if I'm headed on the right path or headed in the wrong direction.

Like Pac said it was usually for either white kids or rich minorities; he was one of the ones who got in for talent

In the bonus mtv christmas interview, I think he says this one blonde rich kid whos life was in pieces put him through school. Maybe from another interview.

To be accepted by most performing arts schools ur required 2 pass an audition (acting, dancing, singing etc) or supply a portfolio of ur artwork 2 be critiqued. Alot of these schools are free 2 attend, but some do charge a fee or require recommendations...

Tha Baltimore School Of The Performing Arts is a public school so i think itz free, non-Baltimore applicantz pay a tuition fee which was about $2000 this year...& they don't require recommendationz...

Talented poor kids get financial aid. You think I could afford full UNC out-of-state tuition and expenses?
There's no such thing as financial aid for high school, unless I'm wrong. I always thought that school let you pay a tuiton to get in. I always thought it was private, but a known school with a good reputation.

It was shown in a Dutch or Belgian documentary about Pac a couple of years ago. It actually says so in the link, Canal+ is the channel it aired on. Don't know where they got it from though..
