If you're worried about your posture I highly recommend one of these when using @ home

Desktop Stands - Diplomat Desk Stand

I had horrible neck pain before, specially the muscle that connects your neck to your shoulders (traps I think??)

Anyway, this 100% solved it by raising it to eye level, it also helps any wrist pain you will eventually get from constant typing/jacking/texting :p
my cousin has one of those. wonder how much they cost, and they are quite space consuming.

I got one for $50. They dont take that much space, the footprint is about the same as your laptop and it has a hub built in. It only raises the laptop up to different heights

There's a cool program called "notebook hardware control" where you can undervoltage or underclock your processor, graphics card, make your hdd more quiet etc.
Usually processors are overvoltaged by the producer 'just in case'. I undervoltaged mine by 30% (it was working okay even with 40% down but I gave it 10% extra just in case) and my battery runs for almost 50% longer AND the cpu temperature came down from over 70 degrees in stress to below 50 while not losing its efficiency at all.
You can control many other things with that program so it's a really cool thing to install:

I just found out that now there are separate free and premium versions.
Back in the days I downloaded a free premium one.

Does anyone know a good laptop (12 to 14 inch) that's good, but inexpensive? I'd just need it to surf the net, and for school to take notes and thensome. Not really games.

wouldnt a netbook be better than a laptop for those functions?

also you might want to look at lower-spec processor's (e.g. sempron, celeron), RAM (512MB, 1GB), gHz (1.6, 1.8) and HDD capacity (40GB, 60GB, 80GB).

I know what you mean about a billion websites popping up, it did that to me, but only one time. I swear to God RealGM opened up 32 times before I restarted.

How inexpensive?

This one is pretty cool if you need a small one since the price dropped from 1k & to about 700$:
HP Compaq 2230s Review

I would recommend a bigger screen though. My bet would be something from Levono, probably t60 or t61 since they are probably the most reliable modern laptops out there. Lenovo is IBM after all and t60/t61 are not widescreen which is a great thing for me personally.

I could never go back to a PC. Laptops are the shit.

Id never go back to a windows laptop either. Macbooks are so dope. Everything just works the way it is supposed to every single time. Open it up, instant on, do what I need, close it down, anywhere, anytime, everytime.

I only use computers in the studio, but I had being forced to be at the desk.

For personal use, laptops/macbooks for the win.
