But there are SUBSTITUTES when it comes to getting protein, right? Meaning, you can eat potatoes or some shit and still get protein....Jokerman talked about this like 5 times already.

The powered supplements are making me sick.

The main source for protein for vegetarians is lentils, beans, peas, etc etc. I posted about this a LOT in the other threads because it has been something I have been doing for a year.

Its stopped working for me, Ive topped out so to speak. Im burning weight quicker than I put it on.

Perhaps if I was some pale hippy that sits at home it would be fine, but right now Im boxing and going to the gym three times a week. So I am pretty active and Im just burning weight and losing muscle.

Im not going to eat eight different types of beans and lentils 10 times a day. I dont have the time to do that.

My blood work shows I am missing Vitamin B12 as well.

Im not risking my body and health.

Like I said, if I lived a boring lifestyle, wanted to be thin, and just SUSTAINED, a vegetarian diet is fine.

If I wanted to build using steroids, a vegetarian diet is fine.

But Im not doing either of those.

This is my body and my lifestyle, no know-it-all on a forum who doesnt know me or my life can fucking pass judgement on what I should do to stay healthy.

Right now I am eating chicken breast (high in protein) two or three times a week according to training and we will see how it goes. Ill then try to cut back if I can, or perhaps it more if need be.

Oh, another thing you should take into account. Most vegetarian diets are high carb and low protein. This leads to FAT building and not muscle.

No. Vegetarianism IS a lifestyle. You can eat a diet without meat and still not be a vegetarian, if you are still wearing fur, leather, etc. The definition of being a vegetarian extends past the diet.

Vegetarian body builders bulk up on creatine, pea based protein powders, and steroids. I tried it for a year. It doesnt work for MY BODY. I even underlined MY BODY in my first post. The protein powders suck, Ive been getting cramps because of them so I cant take them, they make me sick.
Again - not the only source of protein.

Oh and if any vegetarian reads this, regarding protein, beans and lentils actually arent a complete protein so mix them with corn to finish it off. That will keep you healthy, and you'll need to eat a shit load of it to bulk.

Only if you eat a lot of simple carbs. Complex carbs like whole grains and vegetables will not lead to fat. They won't lead to muscles, but they won't lead to fat. That's why there's no fat hippies.

Maybe if you felt you had to break your veggie diet, you should have started with eggs. At least they were never living. That protein is the highest quality. And it will not raise your cholesterol levels by much. That's mostly a myth. It's got some other problems but so does chicken.

That is true, but like I said and you just pointed out, it sustains, not builds. And Im burning so many calories, it's hard to keep up with.

Ive always eaten eggs, Ive never been a vegan (love cheese too much although still buy rennet free cheese). I however do not drink milk and have cut out most dairy and will continue doing so. Milk = baaaad.

It's got some other problems but so does chicken.
Nothing in life is perfect ;).

Thanks for trying, but I have seriously been dealing with this for a year, and seriously been battling it for six months. I go to nutritionists, all that, etc etc. Have tried EVERYTHING.

One thing I will recommend though is Acai, especially if you are vegetarian.

I still eat a primarily vegetarian diet, still eat a lot of tofu, lentils, beans, veggies, it's just that Im eating a chicken breast on my training days. We'll see how it goes, if it doesnt help I will reevaluate.

Thanks for trying though and not just being an asshole about it. It has been a long process for me, and I really feel guilty with every meal. The last thing I need is some know it all dick making accusations about shit he has no fucking idea about.

This is the thing that bugs me about vegetarians. They think their way is the healthiest and whoever doesn't do it is doing it wrong. Fact of the mater is most of us eat improperly in life. You can adjust your diet according to how you live but it doesn't mean that one way is wrong and the other isn't.


Anyway, eat the fuck out of that chicken!

One thing I never did was preach that vegetarianism is the healthiest, because it isnt, a BALANCED diet is.

I was purely a vegetarian to spare animal life, not because it was cool or healthy.

Ive neglected my own body for far too long though.

One thing you should not do is feel guilty about anything you eat. You should totally enjoy it. That's the healthiest way to eat.
It really is hard. Eating it is like a guilt ridden chore. I try to enjoy it, which leads to threads like this I guess, and get fucking dickheads thinking they know me better than me. :rolleyes:
