"Making Peace With Cupid"

Romantic pursuits have shredded my heart
Leaving a million pieces in the aftermath
Recovery isn't easy but somehow I manage
To continue searching for my other half

Sometimes I imagine she doesn't exist
There's no evidence, whereabouts or residence
That there's another to complete everything
Maybe I'll have to surrender dead presidents

Payment to speed up this monotonous process
Of locating her and forcing cupid's hands
Because he's an intolerable irrational individual
And loneliness isn't a concept he understands

Negotiations have begun, they'll never end
The grudge he's carrying ruins my chances
Hating me eternally for misunderstood acts
Rotten words spoken and misguided advances

Patching the holes has become necessary
Repairing frays in this cursed relationship
This is something I'm forced to accomplish
To experience the beauty of companionship

Fighting ensued during our first meeting
Merciless blows were thrown for weeks
To end this he considered murdering me
Instead he busted up my face and cheeks

A treaty became an impossible compromise
Nobody would leave without an agreement reached
Failing this pursuit wasn't an available option
This contract wasn't going to be breached

Blood stained floors were getting redder
Battles still raged, wasting countless hours
He repeatedly tried psyching me out
But I wasn't frightened by his powers

Family started wondering where I was
Years had passed, my location unchanged
Walls were mocking and berating me
This process was slowly making me deranged

Before madness set in he soon relented
Eager to finish this neverending disgrace
He readily began divulging her location
"She's residing right in front of your face"

"I'm through, go and obtain her yourself
Don't blame breakups on me anymore
It's your problem, my grip is released
I won't be troublesome like before"

I liked this quatrain alot because "the concept of lonliness" seems to be something nobody understands, not even some of the most intellectual people in the world.

Other than that though, I found it hard to keep up with where it was going without reading some things a second or third time.

Good work though man, keep it up.

I liked it. It kept me entertained and had me questioning a few things. I'm not afraid of the length of poems...mine tend to get a lil bit that way too so maybe that's why I'm immune to it. Who knows. Anyway...I liked the way you worded this...loved the flow. And the concept was a good one too.
