Meteor explodes over South Africa

Aww c'mon. That was cool to watch :(
Yeah, that I don't disagree with. But it doesn't mean the end is nigh.

I was driving in the country one night and I saw a huge fireball floating across the sky until it eventually burned out close to the ground. It wasn't as spectacular as this and was most likely space junk but was still pretty cool. Who knows how often this happens in rural areas.

Is that real?
How did it not cause any damage? And why wasn't it reported on any major news stations? :?
From what I know so far, they are still searching for its location as to where it may have landed. Wherever it is, it didn't cause any significant damage.

News - Environment: More meteor pictures requested

I only found out about it through this board. That's because I barely sit down to go through news websites or watch the news on telly.

OH, I get you now. I guess with 2012 in cinemas and meteors falling out of the sky you'll get someone putting two and two together (even for fun). The end is far from nigh.......if that makes sense. I never got to see a fireball size meteorite. The most I get to see is a shooting star now an then.

Even then, I still wonder if this one would have been noticed if it happened during the day. After all, its not like meteors only come in during the night hours.
