Has this system been widely compromised and no one is reporting on it?

A week ago, I go on my Windows Live account that I haven't been using for years now and notice a lot of recent e-mails from people I know and who I have on MSN. I realized that these e-mails weren't actually from them so I didn't bother to click anything in the content. What first got me intrigued was that these are all sort of tech-savvy users who grew up on the Internet. These weren't e-mails from grandma. Then, yesterday, a friend of mine starts chatting me up on MSN and sounds a bit weird. She says "Hey I just took this IQ test and only scored 113" and I was like "lol...". And then I realized it was a bot, fucking chatting with me on MSN! Fucking weird. So I just signed off. Today, my dad calls me up and he's like "Did you send me an e-mail or text message today?" I was like, no. Then I realized MY SHIT has been compromised too. What the fuck? For chatting with a bot? For not using my windows e-mail? What's going on...

I got one of those emails from a friend of mine who runs his own computer business! I never use hotmail apart from for XBOX so my address book is pretty thin and he is the only 'tech savvy' dude on there. It was weired that he was trying to sell me viagra tho

My mom had a Hotmail account and it got fucked in the ass a few months ago. She wasn't gonna make the switch to GMail back then but once that happened, she made one and hasn't had any problems with it since.

Microsoft's online services suck in general. I haven't used their Messenger in years and I sure as hell don't use Hotmail.

My mum had the same issue, as have a couple of my friends. I found the easiest way to stop it is to switch to Gmail...

Windows have tried to hard to make their Interface user-friendly, but its just ended up becoming inferior.

all i really wanted was my contact list to be maximised and each contact to have their own line. they should at least give an option for it. all they give now is social mode (or whatever its called) and compact mode.
