MTV Rates Makaveli as #9 on Greatest Hip Hop Albums!?!?

i gotta say i agree with damn near every post on this thread, MATW should be at least, at the very least, top 5. Instead of bitchin on here though, head over to MTV.com and flood the comments, tell em MATW should be on there for sure.

You should be shot for calling yourself and rap fan and not knowing who Rakim is. Arguably the greatest MC of all-time, and I'm almost willing to say better than Pac.

not starting the long discussion with these, but i will add my 2 cents.
NOT everyone who loves PAC is necessarily a HIP HOP head agree? and its a fact.

i have listened to all of the 10 albums listed and a lot lot lot more by a lot of artists
personally no album comes close to 7 day theory with the exception of all eyez on me
those 2 are teh albums that i can just leaven it playing for the whole day without skipping a track, i love biggies life after death and ready to die and chronic by dre but some of the songs on them just makes me wonder "wtf is up with this track?"

so all i can say is i completely disagree with that article or whatever and that voting thing

besides, MTV is full of Emo and Punk fags. The only reason they play rap/r&b/hiphop is because they just have to. Take a look at the hosts, none of them are b-boyz/thugz, just emo fags. Fuck MTV, BET is wheres it at. I can almost guarantee you that 7 day would hit #1 with BET. MTV doesnt know what rap is. hahahaha west siiiide biatch! Fuck MTV.

#1 = best album = an opinion
I understand that this is all opinion based; however, this is MTV not just some random person, it should be less opinion orientated but rather more judged based on other aspects.
It’s like ESPN putting a list of the top ten teams in NBA history and failing to mention even one of the Chicago Bulls teams (95-96 Team that Holds the Best record for a regular season, 72-10). But rather putting down 5 Celtic Teams from the 1950's and 5 other championship teams, simply because they felt Phil Jackson and Jordan weren’t good people, and that Jordan contradicted himself by playing baseball and being a hater.

And its not about being a "dickrider," I see that fucking word way to much on this board and it’s really annoying. I feel others as being the unoriginal ones trying to be more "intelligent" by being seen as logical and reasonable people, Shutting down people disrespectfully and rudely.

And for the people that think its biased etc.. Please Visit the source and write a comment to MTV about the way you feel. I sure did.

How the fuck is it biased towards the East coast? 4 out of 10 albums are west coast. And if you think seriously that All Eyez On Me is one of the top 10 greatest rap albums of all time then you seriously need to expand your collections. Paid in Full was twice the album AEOM was!

All of you people going on about how Pac should have been 1, 2 and 3 are off your head. Ready To Die did more for hip hop than AEOM. Me Against The World is good but come on, a classic. Only a dedicated Pac fan would think that. DK7 is his best album but Toss It Up let that album down bad.

Do any of you think that the reason only one 2pac album was on the list is because NOT everyone thinks of him the same way you do. He was a great songwriter and icon but he never released a masterpiece did he! Are any of you even old enough to remember the shit reviews AEOM recieved when it came out???

I will disagree - and also what did ready 2 die did more for hip hop compared to All Eyez On Me. I am from the part of the country that most people can't even spell and they know who 2PAC - MAKAVELI is and was back in 96 compared to any rap star back in the day.

It tells us something about your (lack of) knowledge of rap.

Paid In Full:The greatest "Hip-Hop" album of all time?
Pfff...What a joke!It was maybe cool & fresh in the end of the 80's but now it sounds totally outdated...
So an album loses its quality when it sounds outdated? Sounds like a weird logic to me.
If people went by your logic it would be futile to even make this list.

Oh and I, and many others, can still bump that album today and enjoy it immensely. Those albums were mostly known for the lyrics ...

Ready To Die broughy creativity and lyricism back to New York rappers that had disappeared because they were trying to imitate West Coast rappers. Only Nas and Wu-Tang had tried it successfully but they didn't hit the mass market the same way that Ready To Die did. It literally awoke a whole coast of rappers.

AEOM sold well because it had nice singles and 2pac was coming outta jail so the controversy surrounding him propelled sales. AEOM was a deent 3.5 maybe 4/5 album but nothing more!

I don't know man - its a long debate but i will say this any true hip hop expert (not east coast) will say AEOM is better than Ready 2 Die Period.
