haha if I were born after 2000, I'd have probably watched them then. I'm familiar with family guy and everybody loves raymond. kevin james, i first saw in mall cop, probably.

family guys is kinda like south park...why would you use the father figure as evidence of encouraging anything but pop culture satire, which the show is about from what i can tell.

"rush limbaugh is a moron" - me
other person - "have you seen that family guy episode about rush limbaugh?"

*head explodes*

that's how I know about family guy.

I have seen all those TV Shows. And family guy is actually pretty funny. I used to watch Raymond and King of Queens when I got in from school. It killed time.

When did everyone on streethop get the elite views that your television preference somehow equates to your intellect?

I don't think my views are elitist. I've tried to like Family Guy, but it gets tiresome. BAM, here's a joke with no context. BAM, another joke. It's artless. And the other shows, I just think they're formulaic and stale. And of course your sense of humor is closely related to your intellect. Dumb people laugh at anything. Babies laugh at anything because they're babies. Does it make me an elitist that I prefer Arrested Development to Family Guy?

I don't believe you have to like a programme. But people on here judge others by their viewing habits. Some people on here watch reality TV. I don't judge them. (I do really)... each to their own. To judge someone else on their TV habits, and comparing them to yours... Would be elitist. Agreed?

You know how I feel about the Bluth family.... Come on. (Said in G.O.B's voice)

My comments were generalised towards the massives, by the way. It seems we have become very judgemental on here.

Why would he? I've only seen a couple episodes of each series and that was enough to let me know they were awful. Especially king of queens.
I'm not arguing with the quality of the tv shows. I was shocked when he said he has "never" seen the shows.
I figured anyone and everyone in the US has atleast seen ONE episode of the previous mentioned shows.

How can he know if he likes it or not if he's never seen it?

People watch TV shows for different reasons. I didn't mean to sound elitist. The shows he mentioned have been on TV for quite a while so I figure they're "good enough" to run for so many seasons. When I said I didn't watch those shows, I just meant I couldn't know what the father figure is like. Also, I'm sure I'd "like" the shows. I probably wouldn't hate them. I'm sure I wouldn't dislike collecting coins too but I prefer to spend my free time doing other things..like watching TV shows other than the ones he mentioned. :)

I love watching Eastbound & Down and its very low brow humor.

Do you need to see The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn to know if you will like it or not?
You need to know the gist of the books or at least see one of the movies. Most people just want to jump on the bandwagon and hate on the new thing the internet is hating on. Twilight, Bieber...hell, it even gets political. No one thinks logically and says "hmm, I should see what it's about to really pas judgement."

With that being said, I probably would be hypocritical and not watch a movie called "Gay Black Cocks in Horse Assholes Part 2" but that's because the title gives it away. What about the "Twilight" title gives anything away?

I'm just using the same logic we use for everything else. Because having a stance against marijuana without trying it is frowned upon, right? Why is it different for Twilight? Or Justin Bieber? I, personally, have actually never listened to a Bieber song and knew it. I was listening to the radio at home, a song came on, I asked my sister who it was by and coincidentally it was a Bieber song. I didn't think much of it. I didn't feel like shooting myself, like many on the internet exaggerate about.

So I take these with a grain of salt. Watch the shows for yourselves and then pass judgement.

Somewhat true, but all I need is to see the coming attractions or a commercial for something to know if it's worth my while. And if you watch TV or go to the movies or rent DVDs you see something from about everything. Of course, sometimes something can surprise you, but not often enough to give everything a chance.

"Gay Black Cocks in Horse Assholes Part 2"
Shit, when did Part 1 come out? The coming attractions were bangin!

And it was Justin Bieber songs, not Tupac's, that made me want to go out and get a gun.

According to almost all studies, it's not - it's linked to personality types. Some might appear as unintelligent to an inexperienced observer, but behind ridiculous jokes often lies huge intelligence. If anything, the fact that you're able to laugh at anything means that you're an intelligent creature.

However watching TV is related to intelligence:

Also:
Watching TV in childhood (between 5 and 11) is associated with the failure to complete university;
Watching TV in adolescence (between 13 and 15) raises risks of dropping out of school without a degree.

So stop watching silly TV shows, or TV at all.
