Other European Leagues

We may need seperate threads for Italy, Spain, Germany, depending on how popular they are. :) But any general talk about the other, smaller, European competitions can go in here.

For the Netherlands, today's classic was Feyenoord - Ajax. Ended in 2-2, saw the match. Not great play, but definitely real struggle. At the start of the season I was backing PSV to, yet again, make a strong push for the title this year, but having seen them, and more importantly, their cockwipe defense last tuesday vs. Madrid, I'll flip-flop and say Ajax will cake the title this year. They made a few good signings (very expensive ones, though, but alright) and have some young talent coming through as well (v/d Wiel, Sarpong (he'll be awesome in 4/5 years, mark my words!)).

I hope my Twente can continue the good form of last 2 seasons. Finished 4th twice, so that's good. But having lost Engelaar and El Ahmadi, it remains to be seen how Tiote, Janssen and Perez will fill the gap. The potential is there, however, and personally I'm quite glad we could pick up Perez. Beat Volendam 2-1 today.

Italy won 3-1 away at Torino.

Real Madrid are winning 2-0. RVN scored 1. Goal Machine still.

Apparently its Raul's last season as a pro, how old is he? 32?

Just watched the Barca v Sporting Gijon. Very comfortable win for Barca especially after Sporting had a player sent off. I saw Sporting Gijon play Sevilla last week as well. they will do well to avoid relegation.

Ronaldinho was on the bench for AC Milan. Zarate scored again for Lazio. he is class. They dont show Italian football on any english channel nowadays do they?

This Sergi Busquets look a very good player. although he wasnt up against much tonight. I have my doubts about Daniel Alves defensively.

Maradona said last week that Messi tends to be too greedy at times. What do you think?

Hm...I think the Messi thing is kinda overreaction. After Maradona said it, everyone picked up on it and started to criticise him, Goal.com just criticised him just now for it.

Messi's game is to run at players and commit defenders, hes only 21, if he was 27 and still holding on the ball then theres a problem. He does overdue it at times, but so does C.Ronaldo/Ronaldinho/Kaka/ he can't get it right everytime.

Zarate is good, Lazio's side isnt that bad you know, some of the players they have are very good.

Daniel Alves defensivly was better a couple of years ago, last season he wasn't great mainly as he didn't want to be at Sevilla, he will improve coz a couple of years ago he hardly let anyone pass him.

I hope we get to see Serie A here. I enjoyed it last year on Channel 5. I thought Setanta had the rights this season?

i dont have Setanta. i dont think they show it though.

Yea, Messi put a great pass for Iniesta's goal. goal.com sucks balls anyway. some of their reporters havent a clue. Their player ratings are always a joke.

Yeah I have Setanta they said they have a deal...but I think it may of fallen through unfortnatly.

Yeah Goal.com are idiots, only Ewan Mcdonald the guy who reports on La Liga has some sort of a clue.

It's another league, that nobody cares about else from me and Hizzle, but Hajduk Split beat Dinamo Zagreb at home. Last time we did that in Zagreb for the derby was 5 years ago. We're slowly getting better. We'll never have the team we had when we got to the CL quarterfinals (eventually being beat by CL winners Ajax), but despite all the organized crime involved, we're doing good.

I knew Dinamo would be shit after Dudu and Modric left.

Zico to manage same Uzbekistan team that Rivaldo is in? What is this world coming to?

Whats next, Trapattoni taking over as Ireland manager? Wait...that's...already happening...agh

I have to laugh at you because Ireland is a far better football nation than Georgia even though our population is only 4 million and we also have a strong Rugby team as well as our 2 national sports-Hurling and Gaelic Football. Both of which are more popular than soccer over here. taking all that into account, we have reached 3 world cups, getting to the knock out stages in all and one euros. We have beaten teams like Italy and England in major tournaments and put in good performances in every game. The most we have been beaten in a match at a major tournament was by a single goal.Im not claiming that we are a football powerhouse. far from it but Where the hell is Georgia? lol We beat ye last month and should have won by more.

Hector Cuper is Georgia manager. Just shows how far his managerial career has slipped to :)
