im just asking because i see the guys on sky sports wearing them for the past 2 weeks and the Arsenal players had them sown into their shirts for the game today.
^^If i did, i would feel as if i was showing my support to the British army which i could never do after what they did to Catholics in the north of Ireland when they were meant to keeping peace.
I would on the other hand respect those soldiers that fought in both World Wars.
You wear it for the whole month of november. It's not only for British soldiers, it's for all the soldiers who lost their lives in the first world war.
I thought at first that it was just the English wore them in remembrance of their own soldiers. i never knew that other nations marked it by wearing poppies
Its a sign of respect for all those who died in WWI and WWII, not just for the soldiers who made that sacrifice. Tbh, i thought all the allied nations did this.
^^yes but we dont wear them to remember our own soldiers.Fair enough some Irish fought in the British army in the world wars but by buying a poppy i would be supporting the British army and i couldn't do that.
I guess my view is that i respect any soldier that fought in WW I and WW II and they should be remembered. But i dont care for any soldier involved in the Northern Ireland troubles.
the Irish don't celebrate remembrance day because you are not part of the UK. If you from Northern Ireland, yes, but the IRA didn't and don't wear poppies.
