Pulled Over Twice in Ten Minutes

So my friend Jess calls me up yesterday asking if i wanted to hit the bars that night. i told her i couldn't because i had to work early but if she wanted to come over earlier in the evening and drink a few beers and watch a movie, we could do that. So I picked her up around 715 and we came back here and started to watch a movie.

I had a couple beers but shortly after the movie started she said she really wasn't feeling well and asked if I could drive her home. So I dropped her back off around 830. As I'm approaching the intersection, I notice a state trooper stopped at the light (heading the opposite direction as me). I have the green light, so i signal and take the left turn. Then I look up in my rearview mirror and see him spin around, get right up behind me and throw on his lights. I'm like, what the fuck? So i pull over and he asks for license, registration. Then asks if I know why he pulled me over and I tell him that I honestly have no idea. He said when I made my left hand turn I failed to stay in my left lane and instead drifted off into the right (which is true, i always do that but i don't think much of it).

So then he asks if I've been drinking and I didn't want to lie, so I told him I'd had 2 beers earlier, which was true. So he's like, well the last guy that told me that ended up having 20 so I need you to follow my instructions. He's got the flashlight in my face and he tells me to follow the tip of his pen with my eyes without moving my head. After a minute he says that he can't see my eyes too well so he asks me to get out of the car. I'm nervous as fuck and he must have moved the pen back and forth at least 20 times and I'm getting worried that my anxiety is going to cause me to fail. But, finally, he realized I was sober and told me to have a good night.

So I get back on the road and hit the light to turn on to my street a few minutes later. I'm stopped at the red arrow and I notice a city cop stopped at the light on my road waiting to turn in the other direction. So I wait until the arrow goes green and make the turn. Then I see the city cop spin around behind me and throw on his lights. I'm like, what the fuck? you've gotta be fucking kidding me? Again? I didn't want to fuck up the traffic on that busy street so I waited an extra couple seconds and turned into the pizza shop right across from my apt.

Now I'd had my window about a third of the way down because last night was actually pretty warm and when the cop approached, he goes, "Your window doesn't go down any further than that?" And I'm like, "uh yeah it does. Sorry." And I roll it all the way down. Then he's like, "And another thing. When I throw my lights on, you need to pull over right away. Put yourself in my shoes. I don't know who you are or what you're doing. I understand you don't want to block traffic, but you need to pull over immediately. When my lights go on, it's go time. You get over."

So I'm like, "Okay, I'm sorry. I understand." He says he pulled me over because my lights weren't on (I must have accidentally switched them off when I got pulled over the first time and didn't notice because the streets were well lit). So he checked my information and sent me on my way. Talk about crazy. I hadn't been pulled over in four years and then this happened all in about a ten minute window last night over maybe a three mile stretch.

But nothing happened! So you're good.

Nice stroke of luck, though. Did you tell the second cop you got pulled over like 5 minutes ago?

I remember a few months ago me and my buddy were stopped 4 times in 15 minutes for alcohol control, lmao. Not by a cop car, though, just roadside checks. Still, annoying.

I got pulled over once in my life when I was following my boss. He didn't know the streets so I was just following him then he did something and this cop flashed the lights and pulled us over.

So technically, it wasn't my fault. huhu.

I lmao'd at the title. Interesting story.

Did they make you hop on one leg and say the alphabet backwards?

Glad nothing bad happened.

And honestly, I hate when cops always use past knowledge to judge you. "well, i pulled over a guy yesterday that said the same thing and drank 20." .....
It's like, we are all different people. Fuck off.

Yeah, but put yourself in cops position. 11 out of 10 people he deals with are complete bags of shit. If your not doing anything wrong just do what the cop says and you'll be on your way in less than 5 minutes. Is it really that much of an inconveince seeing as it probably happens to most people maybe once or twice in their lives.

Pulled over for speeding.

Officer-"Have you been drinking?"

Me- "I had about 20 beers."

Officer-"Last guy who said that to me turned out to be completely sober. You may leave."

Me- "Thanks, I was in a hurry to see your wife."

... So i pull over and he asks for license, registration. ...

it seems strange to me the cops asked you for registration, do you keep registration documents in your car?

here in the uk if my car got stolen with the registration document in the car they could re register it in their name, which doesn't make sense as the dvla would be able to track it

yeah. here in the US, (at least NY State) they always ask for registration. The second officer also asked me for my Insurance Card, which was weird because they don't usually ask for that.

we keep registration in the car here as well in Canada.
