The Phone Market in the US?

#1
America seems to be lagging behind but what kind of phones do you have there? What are the major brands? Nokia, Samsung and Motorola? or some other stuff. What kind of prices do you pay for an average phone.

Just drop some info as to how it works in the US please. (in laymans terms)

Samungs seems to be the best at the moment in the UK, especially the D500, awsome phone:

Its a bit old now, but still a great phone.

Nokia used to be popular, some of the phones are ok, camera sucks though.

Motorola are okish, not as good.

Sony Erricson phones are not too bad.

The others suck, especially Sagem.

I always thought America was behind. From what I've seen. Although we only just got the sidekick over here.

When most of the major phone manufacturers are in Europe though it would make sense. Nokia is probably the largest brand.

I think though America have caught up now and may have overtaken, they were behind definately a few years back. It would be interesting to see people post up their phones and see.

the difference isn't that we don't have access to high end and new phones, the difference is what the marketplace endorses. the vast majority of private sector american cell phone users use the phones that came free with their activation agreement. likewise, business and corporate accounts almost exclusively use low-feature phones that they bought in mass buys and will only support these phones for their employees. i know people with 2 and 3 hundred dollar phones, but for of us it's just dumb to drop a load on a piece of plastic that has a zillion features besides allowing you to talk to some asshole to order a pizza.

european phone technology still has nothing on japan, but like i said in my first post, you can get anything anywhere these days. it's all in what it's worth to ya.

I heard Americans use a primitive form of binary communication, where a jelly donut thrown in the air signifies a 0 and a donut with sprinkles signifies a 1.

Asia is way ahead as far as cell phones go but realistically, until they come up with a phone that does EVERYTHING efficiently, i don't need one chalked full of useless utilities like the shitty vga cameras. There's a new 3 megapixel camera phone comin out i believe which would be pretty bomb.

I agree. I have had the same phone for nearly 3 years now. It cost a few hundred dollars when I bought it but I rarely use all the features. I'm after a new phone now but all I want is 1 that makes and receives calls in all countries, which mine does, and has a decent organiser as I am very unorganised. A camera is also handy.
