Laughing at the religious is at least as "bad" as laughing at those who decide to change their gender, died because of drug abuse etc. etc. All of them were choices that you consciously made and I don't think that poiting fingers and laughing would be fine. Just like it wouldn't be okay to point a finger at a black person and shout the n-word. If only because you're a douche if you do so.
But again, when religion comes into play (here, at least), it's typically a detailed, well written, fact based arguement criticizing religion for it's hypocrisy and backwards views. It's not pointing the finger and saying "LOL islam and christians stupid LOL". If people can't see it as such, that's on them.

you can describe them as apples and oranges but discrimination can go across religious and racial lines sometimes they are criticized concurrently
I believe its discriminatory to put people down based on their faith

I dont want to switch this to another thread but what's the shame for you?
I don't feel any shame. God doesn't exist. And I loathe organized religion, and am proud of it.

I can only speak on past posts this forum is less discrimatory against a single religion as it is against any religion and more specifically against anyones faith.

Im sure the last quotation in so many words has been posted a number of times on this board...

"fuck anyones gods, fuck anyones churches, fuck anyones retarded books" has been posted
also if you support marriage someone will compare it to the rape of children

I don't feel any shame.
so you mean its a shame for the people who believe?
I think of that as being pretentious

Wait, I've been gone for a week so I might've missed it; Why are we comparing criticism of religion to criticism of race? Religion is a personal choice, race is something you're born as. Apples and oranges people, apples and oranges.
THIS.

Also, Daniel Tosh was right to apologize, because rape jokes are never, ever funny. Ever.

If you can't see the difference between gay/black/white/fat jokes (usually lighthearted jabs that just play on stereotypes about ethnicity, sexuality etc) and rape, which is a VIOLENT CRIME that happens to almost 1 in every 4 women (yes - you all know at least 4 women including your mothers and sisters..... the likelihood is that at least one woman you know has either been raped or sexually assaulted in another way)...... then you are a complete and utter fool.

Pedophile jokes are even funnier.

What's the best thing about having sex with a 12 year old girl in the shower? When you slick her hair back, she looks like a 7 year old boy.

or my favorite:

What's the best thing about having sex with 24 year olds? There's 20 of them. LOL

I'm just throwing this out there but women aren't the only ones that can be raped and when instances of this do occur, it often goes unreported. So do cases of rape involving women, but I'm just putting it out there. Let's not exclude people in any of our examples, whether it be rape, who can/can not be racist, etc.

Race and religion are very different in some ways and similar in others. Persecution based upon either is rampant throughout history.

If you lived during the Holocaust and your solution to Hitler killing Jews was simply "don't be Jewish" then I'm pretty sure every one that was not a Nazi would have slapped you. If I declared war on all liberals and ordered them to be neutered and enslaved to cut down trees and kill gays, would your solution be "you can choose to be Republican or Libertarian. You deserve what's coming to you?" I doubt it.

If Mohammed images were posted all over this board when the Danish cartoonist drew him, then pictures of black people, Jews, Indians, whatever can be posted without censorship. Most Muslims would have felt the way Kobe felt about the pictures of the black guys had they seen the infamous picture of a horse with cocks as a mouth and tail, shitting rainbows with the label of "Mohammed" underneath it. We're not talking about whether it's morally right or not. But it's about this so-called "freedom of speech" some of like to exercise on the internet but would never say in real life. I wouldn't say nigger to a black person's face. The way Casey wouldn't wouldn't wear a shirt with Mohammed as a rainbow-shitting horse with cocks on it at his next big gig.

In regards to this post:

I agree with the quote you posted. And yes, it is a shame for the people who believe in some made up fairy tales. I don't expect you to get where I'm coming from. I don't expect any religious person to get where I'm coming from. And I can't be assed to explain myself for the zillionth time. So yes, I'm a pretentious asshole. Just know that belief in god is equally as ridiculous as believing in elves.

I agree with the quote you posted..
my point is that at least the portion of"fuck anyones gods" is typical attitude posted 2 counter even when not defending a specific religion but defending faith period

when ever a detailed, well written, fact based argument criticizing "religion" is challenged for a person having opposing view of faith, or if the person defends the "religion" by way of faith & not by immediately recognizing the and apologizing for any negative associated with the "religion", the criticism takes a turn

I just disagree w/ putting down some ones beliefs not in elves in a bungaloo but in the possibility of a higher power thats beyond themselves and this world and especially if its in good faith
you might think its part of an argument to say fuck em all or thats your stance but like said it isnt exactly a detailed criticism of organized religion

As Funk has pointed out already, religion is a choice. A belief.

Race is not.

Therein lies the difference.

The Holocaust doesn't still happen every day.
then they came for me and there was no one left...

like I say religious discrimination can be in the same vein especially when having to do w/ a specific religion or another

except when you attack a person or group for that "choice"

how much racial discrimination do you think is solely for color & not the person or group?
how much racial discrimination do you think exists where the discriminator didn't already know that wasn't a "choice"

What difference does that make to reality of discrimination?

No, it can't. You have a choice to be religious or not. Attacking religion is attacking a CHOICE someone made.
just to reiterate once again, i said most specifically when dealing with a specific religion
Its not necessarily discrimination to be opposed to organized religion but it can become discrimination when opposing the people who r members of a religion

to the above notions I think its ridiculous maybe this is actually in line to what another poster was saying
but I think its ridiculous for someone to consider religious discrimination to be acceptable bc the religious person doesnt have to be religious
