Understanding of meaning.

I think I understand most lyrics quite well but in '' only god can judge me '' the line '' in my mind I'm a blind man doing time '' I miss the meaning. Can anyone explain? Any other lyrics you people want to clear up? For me there's a few but can't think just now.

Well i think that's open to interpretation but i think 'Pac is simply saying that he feels like he's "doing time" because the streets are like a prison cell, which is a comparison that he made quite often. And as far as being a "blind man" he's merely saying that he doesn't know where to turn.

like pauly said it's up to each person to interpret.

imagine that every person consisted of two aspects, the physical and the spiritual if you will. i always figured he meant that if you were confined to only your thoughts, negating the entire physical aspect of yourself, your thoughts would be trapped inside your mind with no vision. but i never really thought about it.

taking a look at it, i'm pretty sure it's relevant to how he's saying he was blind to the facts. i think he's talking about having lived through his life without being able to differentiate good from bad. so he has had to face consequences because of the people he surrounded himself with and the things he allowed himself to do. he doesn't know what's best for himself, he's only surfing the wave, so in that sense he's blind. he has to constantly deal with the consequences i mentioned. it's his curse. that's the time he is doing.

but yeah, that's maybe a little far fetched, i don't know.

sry man but if u dont understand this, then u dont understand pac at all, its a simply poetic line only pac could spit, i understand it, but i cant describe it, u cant describe poetic, only if u can paint perfect pictures

i feel him, and understand all he said/say

most people can understand his lyrics but nobody can understand what he felt. Everybody tries to interpret his lyrics or thoughts but that still doesnt explain anything, its like people throw their own theories out theres. Only pac himself knew and he has explained alot in interviews, but for all the material he didnt cover its for us to figure out, he left it that way so we can learn from it cuz thats how he touched people, and thats how were all in this forum, remember he did say "i guarantee i will spark the brain that will change the world."

personally i guess i got no problems to understand his pain he went through and either his lyrics

u have to look wit the 3rd eye, the mindseye

if u cant imagine struggles u never seen of felt, then pac is a riddle in every aspect

@ L.McG if u serious, i say IF, then listen to britney, it hardly seems that pac is def. a way to deep for u

hahahaha..... this is a discussion forum. Many of Tupac's lyrics have a different meaning to what is percieved. Also, people have different ideas about this. for example, the first two people who replied had different opinions. Why the hating? Even if it was 'too deep' for me, I am still entitled to listen just as you are. Also, what is the point of a discussion forum when you know everything?

Theres 3 types of truth, my truth your truth and the truth as a fact = how it really is

im not hating, but especially "only god can judge me" has one of the clearest messages

"in my mind I'm a blind man doing time" <- but if u unable to imagine this line in ur head, then u got no fantasy or even no poetic knowledge

look at the man pac, look at his life, and read this line again

I personally like and look for the ambiguity in Tupacs lyrics,

for eg:

"got a nigga wanting it so bad im about to pass out"

Meaning 1) hes about to faint

Meaning 2) hes gonna deliver something

"I might be a freak and let you get on top of me"

Meaning 1) has to do with sex

meaning 2) has to do with letting niggaz think they getting one over on him

"the only way to change me is maybe blow my brains out"

Meaning 1) shoot him in the head

Meaning 2) the metaphor to 'blow someones mind' as to overload with information

Meaning 3) BJ

All these are just examples of ways of viewing (perspectives) the meaning of Tupacs lyrics, there are countless more. I like to think about and play with the idea of what the meaning behind the lyrics are.

The way he put it down is very out of the ordinary, never heard lyrics like that, most people say it very simple and it doesnt mean anything, but pac would say the same thing but more deeply and people get blown away by the way he said it.

''I will spark the brain that will change the world.'' that's another one. What do you think he actually meant by that?

One of the persons he inspires through his music will have the power to change something in the world and the inspiration/spark that will make him change the world will be pac’s music. that’s how I see that one
