WTF? I'm not interested in this movie anymore. Fuqua has clearly thought its not worth his time making it.

No, it's not about clearly thought it wasn't worth making.

They are dubbing Southpaw as 8mile 2. Do you think ANY director would make a tupac role, instead of that?

I love Pac, but in his situation i can do both if i do Southpaw first.

It's about $ if it was in his position, in this economy.

Latest on this step in step out scenario:

[...]Morgan Creek has signed Fuqua to pay-or-play deal on the film. Essentially, it’s a sign of their commitment to work with Fuqua. The most memorable case of pay-or-play in recent memory belongs to Denzel Washington and “American Gangster.” Universal had signed both Washington and Benicio Del Toro to pay-or-play deals to do the film, but when the studio made a last minute decision to cancel the project, they had to pony up $20 million to Washington and $5 million to Del Toro. Ironically, Fuqua was attached to direct an early incarnation, but that film eventually did get made. Now, would “American Gangster” have ever have lensed had Universal not already paid out $25 million in fees? Who knows, but there may have been a bit more pressure to at least make some good about the dollars they already spent (though yes, a much smaller budget certainly helped greenlight the eventual movie).
This means its Fuqua's way or the highway. I like that deal :)

I can handle John Singleton atleast he knew Pac and he has made some good movies.

This other guy can fuck off with his inconsistent ass.

Although he isn't a dead on resemblance (which I don't think it needs) Michael B Jordan is an incredible actor able to pull off emotional scenes. I think he has the right charisma to pull it off.

I just hope they get someone who can actually act.

I'm hoping it's going to be on a level to Tupac Resurrection, but I am expecting something like the MC Hammer movie.

That long-gestating Tupac Shakur biopic is in need of a director once again, as John Singleton has dropped out of talks to helm. Antoine Fuqua was originally lined up to direct, but left the project due to difficulties with casting the lead role – even a nationwide talent search failed to yield any candidates who passed muster — and Singleton entered negotiations last month.
This project may end up in production hell.
