I didn't get it through STEAM. They botched the MW2 launch also. Their servers couldn't handle all the downloads and such and it crashed. lol. I only got to play it a week after launching, even though I had the game. As for the lagging on powerful systems, I'm sure Treyarch will patch this quickly. Some of these guys have beef machines, much superior to mine, but we'll see later. lol
That being said, I read some reviews, they're all 8/10 or 9/10.
Here's a little review on the Xbox version.
IS IT BETTER THAN?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2?: No. It may tell a story better than Infinity Ward's epic but Black Ops uses a lot of the key features from MW2 rather than delivering original ideas. As a result it feels more like a homage to Modern Warfare 2 than a full-blown sequel.
Battlefield Bad Company 2?: Yes. But only just. I really like Battlefield: BC2 as a whole but the campaign left me feeling cold. What Black Ops does well is thrust you into a believable environment throughout while constantly changing your areas of conflicts. Bad Company 2 - for me - didn't.
Call of Duty: World at War?: Yes. This is certainly Treyarch's finest moment in the Call of Duty series, not just because they can use modern weapons but because it all feels much more seamless than their previous game(s).
From most reviews, the storyline is great, much better than MW2. The multiplayer maps are great, as is the multiplayer experience. They gave bonus props for the PC version having dedicated servers (yay). In addition, Zombies is fun as hell lol. They only thing is, they don't do anything too different, takes a lot of aspects of MW2, but it's the best Treyarch game up to date.
