Curious, what was it about 2pac that made you like him as an artist and etc?

Be honest, if it was his looks (lol), or his style, his lyrics, or whatever it maybe. A lot of people when they like 2pac as an artist, they instantly start bashing Biggie and Diddy and such others, why is that?

Biggie was a mutha-effing amazing artist...why don't you like him? Or why do you like him?

I started to love the vibe of his music, his lyrics and his sentimental style. His music had "something" in it no other rappers music has. When I was a kid I also used to like his rebellious side. I admit that I hated biggie at that time too :p

I guess its his deep lyrics, delivery, realness and his consistency. He had a really powerful distinct rapping voice.Thats what i like most about him.

I love Biggie as an artist. In fact i have been listening to Ready To Die again in the car over the last few days. Again he is another artist with a distinct and powerful rapping voice. He was an amazing lyricist too. There was something dodgy about Biggie as a person. Im not sure if he was that nice of a guy.

I never get sick of listening to either artist. There are only a few rappers i can say that about.

I listen to the man 2pac bcoz he is representing the thug life, he is from the west side and he is an outlaw biaatch!!! :D

I actually remember the first time I ever heard about 2pac. My classmate walked into class with the 'strictly for my niggaz' LP and he was telling everyone that 2pac was supernatural. Reason being he had been shot 5 times and he was still alive. LOL!! Believe it or not, we were pretty amazed by that story.

I dont know what it was that drew me to 2pac's music. I just thought his sound represented something missing in my life. I only started listening to his music in 1995 and it wasnt too long before he ended up dead. Truth is, it did take me a long time before I actually understood his music. I used to just listen to his music, but now I feel his music.

I also believe that 2pac recorded music that he totally felt. He was pumped up on his own music. You see it in Resurrection when he plays '2 of Amerikaz most wanted', and the clip when he's working on the 1 nation project. In that clip, he writes down his rhymes, raps them out with hand motion and then continues writing them. You see it in the 'hit em up video' at the exact point when he says, 'With your mouths open/Tryin' to come up off of me/You and the clouds hoping'. Not to mention the way he rans around on stage before he performs the first verse of 'hit em up' in the house of blues concert. This guy knew what he was producing was awesome.

I dont Bash Biggie but I'll totally argue all day that his music is well below 2pac's level. I'm so blind to that fact, when I hear people praise Biggie these days, I think they are just trying to keep his name alive.

As for Puffy, I loved his first LP. Used to listen to it all the time :D Still, I think he's a total idiot, based on what 2pac said about him, some of the things Puffy does and I believe he used Biggie's death as a stepping stone to his fame. I do however acknowledge he has a business brain that has earned him so much money outside music.

I'm still to listen to a full Biggie LP. I've only ever heard his singles, nothing else. To me, 2pac is the best rapper ever, however he was definately no angel.

One thing i really appreciated about him was the way he spoke. Not only the content of what he said, even more the voice itself and what it added to his charisma.

I remember Jada Pinkett mentioning this point in one of the interviews about Pac....:"He just had it". So true

His Charisma and how he uses it with compassion in almost (if not) every track.

He was a rapper rapping for money just like everyone else, but it was more to him, it was his dream. I feed off of that. It seems like rappers that reach their goal these days stop trying, that dude never did. I believed that he was the only rapper that was actually trying to become a legend and he succeeded. He tried to do his best @ times flow wise, lyrical wise, emotional wise...etc...He was the epitome of what a rapper should be like.

More on Charisma, he was the only rapper you can completely listened to even if he was lying. It just seemed like a good lie if it was.

His looks, well I am not gay, but I think it actually did have something to do with it. He wasn't too dark nor too light for his race, therefore he seemed to be accepted by a larger fan base. His image (Stlye and looks) both represented the black youth well. Which at the time seemed to be lost but very strong and opinionated, imo.

His lyrics were the only ones that were able to touch me. I can be wowed by many artist but not touched like I was by him. I think this is what separates himself from others. The dude is like an onion and has layers, or parfait. ;)

Honestly, I grew up listening to a bunch of music,(Oldies, West and East...etc) and I never had a problem with Biggie. Did I think he had SOMETHING to do with 'Pac's death? Maybe. But that doesn't mean I wont appreciate the dudes music. He had fantastic flow that people can't really fuck with.

To disrespect him b/c you THINK he had something to do with it was/is whack. If you don't like him as an artist, I am sorry, but i just don't see how that is possible. There has to be a FEW songs that you have to like if you are a fan of rap.

People that still Dick-Ride 'Pac need to grow up.

That being said,

2Pac - GOAT.

I admit, im young (21) and I shouldn't know shit about 2pac. When I was a kid, I heard Keep Ya Head Up and How Long Will They Mourn Me all the time, but i wasn't analyzing it like i do now. But now that I've gotten older and attained more of an understand about why the world is the way it is, Pac was one of those artists (the only one actually) who shared those same views with me in music and poetry. Not only was his content the ying and yang of a human being and their shortcominz/come ups, but the way he screamed his feelings into his songs. Vocally, nobody has ever touched him in tha same passion and empathy he possessed. Never Had A Friend Like Me. Pain. I was going thru some shit in my life when I really got into Pac in 98/99. His music was one of the ways to escape from stress and man. I know thats one of the reasons Pac made music. He could easily connect with his audience. Thats cuz he could literally relate to em and even more. His life was a very complex and interestin. He came from tha same places I came from. Plus he was one of the only rappers out there who said a lot about being black in america. Biggie neva really got into that, that doesn't make him less of an artist but I can relate more to an artist if he can articulate the issues in society, since there isn't a great abundance of em. Biggiez tha shit though. He isn't my favorite, but im not gonna dick ride on pac and diss Big like that. I'll give Big his propz, but as a person, i can't say. I don't know tha man. he was a woman beater I heard.

I don't like Pac because of his "music". Its the lyrics, I've never heard another rapper deliver a story the way Pac can, Brendas Got A Baby is a prime example. No body else could do a song like that justice. I look at Pac more as a poet, and in my opinion, he was the best poet to ever live, his metaphors and similies are so spot on.

CUZ his music sounds GOOD but its not just the music..its THE MAN.

i like his music because it gives you the feeling that there's no one better. say a bunch of rappers (lets give them names....jayz, diddy, and any other mainstream rappers) were at a club and they hear tupac's music... they know they could never be as good as he is...and his music sounds so good that it makes them feel so bad about themselves..thats how good tupac's music is. and the look on their faces...they can try as hard as they want but there isn't going to be a better rapper out there. the world doesnt need another tupac. its over.

no other rapper or musician gives me that feeling, and the motivation and the spiritualism in his music. thats why i like tupac. i always look for the best..whats best for me...the best things in life..the best food..the best MUSIC. and thats another reason i like tupac...because hes the best.

I think the biggest reason at first was the dark tone of his music/lyrics and his voice/emotion that complemented it well.

Maybe not so much anymore, but there really wasn't anyone like him --- if I was getting high with friends and there was an argument as to what CD to pop-in, the argument was easily settled by pulling out Pac. Of course there was one Biggie fan who protested. hehe

Then it moved to other things like discussion -- I could talk for hours about him and his music, his death, etc.
