with my eyes, i've seen pain
i've seen a mother crying in the rain
when her only son's life was taken away
by a friend who was to dumb to say
"i can't drive, take the keys"
a life could be saved with such ease
but hindsight is as clear as water
now the driver is charged with manslaughter
and all of the trials and court dates
make a mother feel such hate
because she can't even grieve
without telling the press to leave
if we all just took a second to think
a life can be gone before you can blink
and think of all the people it affects
500 people came to pay their last respects
i hope that the message is clear
please don't drive if you've drank too much beer
rest in peace to my homeboy matt
i know heaven's got a place for you to chill at

good shit man i lost a friend in a drinkin n racin accident and also my brother is left somewhat handicaped from an accident, it was some deep shit so keep ya head up

thanks man, yeah, his death really had me fucked up, but i realized that maybe some good could come out of it and ppl would think twice before drinking and driving...at least the ppl that were affected by his life and death. sorry to hear about your friend and sibling...but it is my belief that God has a greater plan for all of us and that through all the pain and anguish, we will become stronger for having lived through it...peace

sorry you had to go through this, nice writing style. felt it. And no matter how many messages you go through or poems are out. or commercials to fight drinking and driving. its never going to end. two years ago i lost a guy i liked from drinking and driving.
