what are you guys going to get for your family members and friends?

are they individual presents, joint presents? did you give anyone any clues? did they ask for it or is it a complete surprise?

have you bought the presents or are you going into the last minute rush?

did you ask for anything in particular or are hoping for anything; or do you not receive presents because you're past the age... thoughts please.

this year ive been terrible, left it all last minute. havent bought my brother anything yet and dont know what to get him. same goes for my mum, i really want to get her something nice like last year. bought my dad a new phone.

our friends havent given presents to each other this year. last year was crazy we all ended up overspending because everyone had to buy presents for each person. one of my ex-friends had taken presents for himself but did not buy anyone anything because of his lame excuse that he couldnt afford it. he was living at home, had a maintenance grant and a student maintenance loan. easily 5 grand there.... he blew it all on clothes, alcohol, phone and ipod touch.

everyone was saying how stingy he was... its a shame.

financially, i always try and be sensible when i know christmas is coming up.

i havent asked for anything and havent given it much thought. what makes me happy is being with loved ones on the day and having a nice dinner together. i enjoy the build up to the occassion and take part in cooking, helping my mum although she doesnt really need it. i really enjoy it.

I'm not in the christmas mood this year, lol. I bought my sister a laptop. I gave my mom $200 to buy what ever she wanted. And I bought my dad a 40" tv.

I got the biggest royalty check I've ever gotten last week and I didn't know it was going to be as much as it was....

To give that a little perspective, it's 5x more than the previous highest amount I've gotten in a single royalty check.

This is because:

A) 'Sugarless' has been our biggest song to date in terms of radio play
B) The royalty rates went up
and
C) I have a bigger writing credit on that song than any other song I've written before because I wrote all the female vocals on it as well as my own.

So it's definitely a good Xmas for me and anyone I'm buying presents for :)

Getting myself a laptop to celebrate as well as offsetting some of the cost of my next trip to the States in a few months :D

Yo, Get yourself an apple laptop dog.

Lol j.k.

Um. I have zoo tickets, I gave them away to people who NEVER expected it and got ALL cheery. I gave 2 to one stranger. I'm giving 2 each to my professors @ college after my finals.

I got my sister a dvd, and I plan on getting her the new lady gaga cd. It's not out is it?

I've been anticipating it but been kind of busy w/ school.

Besides that, I don't plan on getting anything for anyone. I'm broke.

I purchased a future on Sandeep's negative reps. The way it works is, the more negative reps he gets, the bigger the profit I make. So far, considering his dumbass posts as of late, I'm rich as fuck. I also went long on VG's posts, and since his posts regarding gays are dumb as fuck, I assume the neg reps are going up so I'm like swimming in money bitches.

that's so nice of you. i like it when that happens (underlined above), when people really appreciate something and it means something to them. it makes me happy.

We're doing secret Santa with the family besides Baden since he's a baby we're all gonna get him something. I got my cousin's boyfriend and all I can think of is a model motorbike since he's really into them, but I'm gonna ask my cousin for any other ideas.

I don't know what I'll get.. Will see December 25th.

I got my mom a Hallmark ornament that she has been wanting for 5 years...it was $75 for a fecking oven ornament. I always get my brothers and sisters giftcards...teenagers are hard to shop for. I found a jewelry receipt on my kitchen floor so that might be my gift. My mom already told me everything she got me bc she can't keep a secret.

I'm not buying anyone anything except for my youngest cousin who is like 9..

I don't celebrate Xmas but every year I would get sucked into the gift exchange thing anyway b/c people couldn't understand or fathom why I Wouldn't want to celebrate "the birth of jesus" or some other idiocy.

Well this year I started telling them like in September that I wasn't buying gifts, receiving gifts or celebrating and they let me off the hook...

i do it do get in the spirit of things. but its sad how its become overcommercialised and people are forgetting what its really about.

its chinese whispers. the message and hence meaning gets distorted along the way. it is very costly though. i wouldnt want to feel left out, but i wouldnt go and spend like crazy either.

It's just silly. I mean, people are laid off, broke, and struggling to pay bills but are going to spend money they don't have on presents (I know this isn't everyone) and the sad thing is they are depressed and upset if they can't afford to buy gifts.. I just don't get it. I hate the rush of running around trying to buy gifts for people, wasting so much money for no reason.. meh.

I like to just pick up random things for people throughout the year. I like to think that matters just as much, if not more, as the presents they've come to expect on Xmas.

exactly. i feel sorry for the people (parents in particular) who are hit hard by christmas time, getting by, trying to please their kids who wont understand and will be very upset if they dont receive any presents.

its the pressure of having to shop to buy gifts to try and please others. the worst thing about it is that its all at once for several people.

we had to spend hundreds of pounds buying gifts for each other, neices, nephews, cousins. and now we've cut down and only do the closest people and even then not that much.

IMO, there is nothing, absolutely nothing more important than being with each other on christmas day. presents are just part of the excitement. TBH, im really excited about my dad's present i got him - may sound wierd but i cant wait for him to open it. i take more pleasure in seeing other people feel loved, wanted, appreciated and happy than i do taking things for myself.

but there are more ways to showing appreciation than buying gifts and they should come naturally, not because its christmas.
