Not a bad day to start things off. Aston Villa's failure is probably the most surprising thing to happen, their midfield was severely lacking today. There was no build up what s ever and anytime Bent got the ball he was surrounded with no help.

I watched the Liverpool game. Glad I did it was very enjoyable. I couldn't watch all of Spurs game, as I had to catch a train to go get hammered. Now I am hung over.

We didn't do much with the ball and Bent had like 3 touches on the ball. I think he needs to get involved in the game a lot more rather than just worry about positioning and finding himself through on goal. Looks like Makoun will leave as well.

I think Paul Lambert deserves time, and needs some more money.

Villa's back 4 were very new together too. And a couple of them were not used to the direct football that West Ham play.

PL definitely needs time to get the team to gel. Clarke barely played last season and was often excluded from the starting lineup. I look foward to seeing Albrighton, Gabby and Herd making comebacks. Herd was amazing last year.

Some interesting deadline day deals. Dempsey to Spurs, Berbatov to fulham (can't believe united bought him for £32m in the first place or was it £34m? and then let him go for £4m). I don't remember him playing a single league match last season, and probably the year before that.

Most of the players that Villa bought were from the lower leagues. I know nothing about these players.

Villa have bought well. In Lambert you should trust. It will be a rocky season still though.
I trust Lambert. He needs time to restructure the squad and get them to gel well. Gardner will be out for the season and i'm not expecting Petrov to play this year, Albrighton is injured as well. Makoun is out on loan and so is Delfouneso. Hopefully they'll come back and make a push for a first team place. I think with these signings we can no longer say that we don't have a big enough squad. Dunne is out injured and when he comes back it'll be good competition between him and Ron Vlaar or maybe they could play alongside each other if Dunne plays well and is on form. When those players along with Agbonlahor come back, they'll be like new signings.

I'm surprised that Warnock and Hutton didn't leave.
