How do you check your macro nutrients? Simple blood test, the way you'd check cholesterol and Iron, and whatnot?

The only issue I have is my dad could get a glimpse of it. Not that I don't want him to know, but I get more chastising than I do help in instances like this and I don't want shit like this held over my head.

"Why won't you finish the last of the brocoli I made?"
"I'm full. I had three plates already."
"See? This is why you'll get cancer."

I don't want to deal with that shit. Plus, I'm scared something big might come up and I'd be scared to see the results. Like a test you know you felt poorly about.
You can pretty much eat a truck load or brocolli, dont worry, but I know what you mean.

Time to grow up and cook your own meals buddy.

As to how to work out your macros, basically, trial and error, start with like a 40/40/20 split, so 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat, and then just adjust it up and down carb and fat wise and see what your body responds to best. I wouldnt suggest dropping protein below that, and it should be 1gram of protein for every lb of lean muscle mass.

You dont want to just lose mass, youll just be skinny fat, you want to keep what muscle you have for every day function while losing fat. Dont worry about what the scale says.

Go sign up at myfitnesspal.com to track what you eat that day, what marcos are in it, etc.

So you can put your meals in and by the end of the day know how much room you have left for... chocolate :) for example.

I pretty much use it to plan my meals ahead of time though.

I dont agree with the point you're making. Our bodies work the same, good nutrition is good nutrition. People need to read independent sources and learn how their bodies work, what they utilize for fuel, what they need to function, and plan their diets like that. Your diet should fit your life, rather than your life suffering because of your diet.

If you dont care about your body, fine, starve it of vital nutrients, but you'll pay the price later.

Anyway, Im off to take my multi, my fish oils, and go for a jog to the gym. It's leg day :) See you after I throw up!
Lol enjoy.

Well... This is just.... awkward.....

Oops... Busted.

Casey didn't know I came on here. I saw him typing loads and and fast, and got curious as to why... So before I knew it I had posted.

Hmmn... Is that an invasion of privacy... Grey area... What would i feel if he did that to me... Depends which forum and what he said.

Lol... I'll leave it up to you to work out who I am though Rukus.

And my point still stands, you were trolling him.

Bye. :)

I just walked in after being out all day..... see my girlfriend standing there looking guilty. Connect the dots. I didn't know, or care that the forum had been upgraded. I haven't checked an IP since the board was on vBulletin. I don't even know how to get to the mod cp on XenForo. Besides which, alternates aren't my style and I wasn't going to return to this thread anyway.

But since I have, I'll point out that Rukas has still yet to respond to anything said in the video.

One additional point I'll mention - MANY scientists and nutritionists believe that the
right diet for an individual's health has a lot to do with their ethnicity.

Simply put, we should be eating what our ancestors have eaten for hundreds of thousands
of years. So if you're East Asian, you ought to be eating a lot of rice, soy, etc.
In the same manner that alcohol has a much more significant effect on those of East Asian
descent due to it being less prevalent in their ethnic history, your body, through
evolution is designed to eat a culturally-specific diet for optimum health.

The principal diet for Indian people is vegetarianism. And since we have a high
respect for cows, and we don't brutalize them to mass-commodify their by-products,
for hundreds of thousands of years MOST Indian people have lived on vegan diets.

Last time I checked - Coonie was Indian also.

To be fair... I have felt healthier since I cut dairy out of my diet and reduced my meat intake to a few portions a week. But I was eating meat with every meal previously.

Nitpicky, but not all Indians refrain from eating cows. Just the Hindus. And there are Indian muslims who eat meat and their ancestors have done so as well. Many Muslim dishes contain meat. But it's the Hindus that generally don't eat them.

Branching off of that, Hinduism and its diets don't promote veganism. Vegetarianism, sure. But the cow is still respected because it gives so much but takes in so little. That means providing milk not just for its calf, but for the village as well. Ghee is butter, a huge part of Indian diets. And even the Hindu God, Krishna, is well-known for eating butter out the pot. So it can't possibly be a vegan-promoting religion. But vegetarianism, sure, I've noticed that too. That Indian food has a lot more veg. options in it. But it still uses butter like no other, and even paneer is made from milk which is endorsing animal cruelty and the consumption of dairy.

What do these scientists say about Africans and their diet compared to their history? That it's ok to eat elephants and lions and other meats because that's all you have in the Savannah?

And what do they say about Americans, which are comprised of every ethnicity in its society? Are we going to see the Hindus own the produce section while the Muslims hold down the meat section? And where would we place all of Europe in all of this? What have they eaten throughout history that makes them different from the rest of us today?

On another note, I am going to Africa in about 2 weeks and will probably see some Masais sacrificing cows for their blood. I wonder if they eat them afterwards...

I saw some last time I went.

I don't eat beef either.

That's actually something I've read into quite a bit. There are still many questions to be answered in that but it's a valid argument. The only thing is humans migrated much faster than our diets could have evolved so to say. Because of that a lot of people just talk about a paleo diet, it doesn't necessarily have to do with your ethnicity but somewhat similar.
