The day after chirstmas is a huge day for stores here as well, we don't call it boxing day but whatever.

My Christmas is traditional as it could get. Wake up to presents which stopped long ago, go to my Mommy's for dinner and that's pretty much it. I spend most of the time on the phone talking to the majority of my family in other states.

LOL. Why would any other country have a day of sales after a holiday that they don't have? That reminds me of when I was in the US for Independence Day last year and someone in my wife's family asked if we celebrated that in the UK. I'm like.........."yeah.....we celebrate losing a war! FUCK YEAH!" lol

Having said that, a number of the big stores in the centre of London had reductions on the American Black Friday. I imagine it was just the American-owned chain stores.
i didnt even know there was such a thing as black friday until i watched zack and miri make a porno like a month ago LOL

You know, now that I think of it. The holidays at my house are quite unpleasant. It's so much better to stay in town after school lets out, and just hope some friends do the same too. Maybe I'm a sourpuss and don't like to go out and do things during Christmas time and that's why my parents irritate me. I'm probably the Grinch. Except I'm brown, so the Brinch.

No presents for me this year. If M$ sent me my fucking one-red-ringed-360 back soon, that would totally make my year. Otherwise, I don't care.

Hey! Don't insult my intelligence:*( Canada has a version of Thanksgiving, regardless of if it's popular or not:(

I agree, i'm not one for family gatherings. Awkwardness and asking questions that no one really cares to know the answers to... wasting money buying gifts b/c of a holiday, sometimes it all seems pointless. So maybe i'm the Brinch too lol

x-mas eve - have a few beers, eat some food, more beers. after about midnight mum and dad usually go to bed so it was usually just me and grandma(until she died) sitting around drinking till the early hours

x-mas day - presents as soon as you wake up, followed by a tradition that has been going on in the Eastwood family for decades, the stoning of an aboriginal. it started in the early 1900's, when my ancestors came to Australia. My great great great Grandfather Cornelius Von Eastwood was a slave master and every Christmas he would stone one of the aboriginals, for entertainment purposes. of course nowadays we dont actually stone an aboriginal we just stone a paper mashe one.

boxing day - shop

A non-religious, non-traditional, consumeristic affair. I'm tired of being part of it, but it is oh so hard to avoid it - shit, it's impossible to avoid. The lights, the music, the ringing of the bells, the ringing of the bells, the lights - ohhh god.

It's like a month long bad acid trip. Two months if you work in retail.

But does it say they can celebrate it?
No, but that's not the point.

There shouldn't have to be any religious aspects tied to Christmas for someone of a different religion to celebrate it. I'm Muslim and Islam is my religion. Why should I have to be part of a religion to decorate my house with lights, have people over, have a tree and give and receive gifts on December 25th?

In Islam, Jesus was acctually one of our prophets. So what is wrong about celebrating the birth of Christ?

Islam and Christianity do not clash with one another when speaking of religion. We might differ with social views or political views, but that should not be confused between the two.
