You know what I hate?

When you ask a friend for a favor that you know they can and will do, since you’ve done ten thousand favors for them in the past, yet before they say yes, they'll act all unsure and put out. You’ll get things like, “Are you sure no one else can do this for you?” or “What did you do last time?” That kind of thing makes me hate having to ask anyone for a favor. Then they’ll go over all the alternative possibilities with you, as if you hadn’t thought about everything else before calling them and having to put up with their annoying shit. As if they were your first consideration. Yet you’re always their first consideration because you don’t put them through that fake martyr act. I find that girls are usually the ones who do this the most.

Anyone experience that or a variation? Or maybe you’re one of those friends who do that.

Yes, I know what you mean and where you're coming from. You feel they're trying to avoid the favour because they can't be arsed and don't have the guts to say it in your face. Notwithstanding the fact you've done the same favour for them.

I hate that, too. It really makes me not ever want to ask people for favors. I hate asking anyways, so when I ask for something it is really a last-ditch attempt at getting what I want/need, and the 'friend' still acts like you described.
I don't know anything else to add to what you said, you pretty much summed it up.

Yea you pretty much said it all. I would directly tell that person that they are being a fucking douche bag though. I don't care if they get offended. Truth hurts bitches.

I might have experienced it once upon a time, but not lately. There are a couple of people I can count on and they will do me a favor if they can. The friends who aren't like that, I don't ask favors of. Simple as that.

I don't ask people for favors. Usually they want to do favors for me though and I think it's nice when they know that I have a problem and want to help me even if I don't want to.
Maybe once or twice I had a problem you discribed but not with my friends. It happened with my classmates and the feeling I had then was a huge disappointment.

But tell the truth, don't you sometimes do this? Let's say you've been working hard all week and tomorrow you're off. Then your friend calls the night before and asks if you can get up early and drive him somewhere. Or you're looking forward to your day off, and your friend calls and says he's moving the next day and needs your help carrying stuff. You'll be like, "no," at first, even though you know you probably will help. But you just have to throw that "no" out there in case it works and they find someone else, yet you know it won't.

I'm rarely placed in such situations.
Usually when I hear that my friend is having some problems I myself offer him a favor. Even when I'm lazy at the moment, had different plans or am tired I want to do that for a friend because after all I will feel good about myself that I did it.

A similar situation I can recall is when my friends organized a small party and I didn't feel like being there. They tried to make me go there and I followed your scenario. I have felt bad after that.

I very rarely ask for favors but I already know from past experiences who will do it for me and who won't. I'll do almost anything except babysit someones wild children. Or anything that involves waking up earlier than usual...there better be some incentive

I did two of my best friends a favour last night. I picked their retardedly drunk asses up from a hockey game last night.

I try to only ask favours of the people who I know will do them. Which is like 5 people, excluding family members.
