Im between places now, so wont have a home connection until mid Feb.

So I went out bought a wireless internet USB stick thing and 12 gigs of data. $129 for the stick, $129 for the 12gbs.

That is fucking crazy.

How does your data thing work, I'm kind of specualting from hearsay but you pay for a certain amount right? Then if you go over your limit they charge you for that or whatever. It isnt unlimited like we got in the states.

Or am i that lost and you're talking about something else.

It sounds quite a bit. I'm not sure how much data 12gb really is. I've never measured my internet usage since it's been unlimited..forever.

Without file-downloading, how long can 12gb of data last you for just web-surfing and such?

Also, if you're in between places, why not just steal the internet off of whoever you're staying with for the time being and use your cell-phone's internet to stay connected?

that is crazy. Here it's much much much cheaper and usually you get unlimited amount of data (for example when you buy 3gb you still can use it after that but you have a slower connection).

In the UK its about £20 a month and you get about 2Gb usage.

I use about 12Gb a month at home, but that includes streaming video regular online gaming.

yeah, same thing. Here if you sign a 12-month contract you pay about 15$ (1,5gb) or 30$(7gb) montly and get a usb HSDPA card for free. You can use it on prepaid too but in that case you have to pay for that card.
The speed is 7,2mbps and when you download more than your plan lets you download (say you exceeded those 7gb) your speed drops to about 256kbps or so. At least that's how it is in Orange mobile.

We are behind, I don't know about Pre-Paid wireless but plans are really expensive.. Hopefully the prices will come down soon.

129 for the USB Wireless adapter? I bought one 2 years ago for 40 euros.
Well to be fair, 40 Euro is about AU$120 lol. Ok, its not, its actually $80, but you get my point.

I had a quick look at them, those are prepaid plans, Ruk if you're using it a lot why dont you just go on a plan you get the USB thing for free and the data is cheaper too I think?

^haha in all seriousness, I don't think you guys are the same as your posts indicate pretty well you guys are different. I just laugh because others think so...it's like, there's no basis.
