This just came to me as I was thinking about the weak promotion of "Pac's Life" and reading some of the comments about it.And obviously it's not just the promotion, but the production, marketing, singles, shitty videos, all the way down to album titles(should've been "Ghetto Gospel"),and even album covers, posters, back of the album and the fuckin' cd booklets. It's like Amaru can do nothing right.I don't mean to be an Amaru hater because I'm am not usually so negative, and I am not one of those people that say we shouldn't buy his albums in protests and I still think had some good points. But, I am just saying that there are record labels that could have done better and Amaru is basically just a gang of amatuers with help from half a group of Outlawz who would have never sold more than 10,000 unit if they never rapped on a Tupac song.
Anyways, here's the plan...
I just wish there was a well known and respectable hip-hop artist and/or producer who could buy Pac's catalog from Afeni, but in a way where she would know that his music would be respected(even though the people running things at Amaru don't show the same respect). This is not such a radical idea, the rights to Elvis' brand name was just purchased from his estate recently and The Beatles catalog is owned by Michael Jackson.Courtney Love just sold the rights to Kurt Cobain's music for $50 milliona and Pac's catalog is far more extensive than Cobain's(even just the part Afeni owns).
Afeni would get an immediate buyout probably in the range of $75-$100 million because who ever bought the rights would have them for life. This would allow her to make TASF bigger than anyone could imagine with money left over to start other programs. There are a few people that could afford to buy his catalog and control it better than Amaru.Russell Simmons and Quincy Jones come to mind
in fact, now that I think about it-Quincy would be perfect because his son could partner with him and help produce some of the tracks.QD3 did a great job with Thug Angel and he was one of Pac's favorites along with Johnny J.Also, right after Pac died,Quincy seemed like he was ready to do a lot of Pac related things like a feature film about Pac's life.
